I'm a 42 year old school teacher. Kids (my own and others), wife, mortgage, responsibilities.... When people ask me why I love to ride my bike so much, I have so many legitimate answers, but the #1 reason is that it makes me feel like a kid again, out on an adventure with my mates. This video highlights this perfectly. Just friends out playing in the world.

Ref; the squealing brakes - if they are a certain vintage of Shimano it is oil particles getting past the seals round the pistons and contaminating the pads and rotors. It may have seemed better later in the ride because you effectively 'burnt it off' from use. I'd bet if the bike is stood for a while they will squark the next time you ride it. I had to get mine replaced under warranty.
