I'm 70 and I'm not aging out--yet. Lol. I'm getting ready to buy my first Ritchey Outback.

I'm 70, too, and I bought an Outback in April. So many ways you can build it up. I've set mine up for fast rides on mostly paved bike paths and trails. It's smooth!

Great treat, interview with Fergus from Ritchey! I bought a Swiss Cross 2 years ago, fantastic riding bike! I realized that my Ritchey bike could be my "swiss army knife bike" but concluded I have to buy an Outback Breakaway for that! So will sell 3 of my bikes and get the Outback! Loved your review on that green beauty!

Awesome interview. I love Ritchey's attitude and views on the biking industry… and certainly love riding my Outback. The review you did of it last year was what sealed the deal for me.

I'm riding also an Outback because of your review and must say, it is absolutely awesome. I use it for Commuting and Bikepacking. Wherever I go, it feels comfortable but fast. Such a nice bike. People with carbon bikes are often looking to me what bike i ride and are wondering why i can hold the speed with them.

Amazing. All these years later I thought Ritchey had become just a name. Sort of like Bontrager and Fisher. My first mtb was a B'stone mb3 with logic tubing.

I had a Colnago Master X-Light as my first high-end steel off the shelf bike. It rode decently, but I found a sale on a Road Logic and built one with the same parts off of the Colnago. Sold the Colnago. The Ritchey felt smoother, I think it was the carbon fork vs the steel Colnago fork, only variable I had, but it was noticeable enough the Colnago was quickly up foir sale and gone. It's a sleeper frame that people overlook, but it's a very good option for steel without going full custom.

Just want to add in that the front end of my 2018 Ritchey Logic (59cm - skyline blue version) is plenty stiff for crits compared to the last 2 top of the line carbon frames with tapered head tubes I raced over the previous 10 years. There is no tracking issues when slamming corners at speed - It really handles "on rails". I if could have anything changed it would be to add a little flex in the forks to take away some harshness over rough pavement. Because of this I started wearing padded gloves which have not worn in years. I may upgrade the all Ritchey cockpit to their carbon versions to build in some dampening. Other than this minor gripe I am happy with the frame.

I too love my Road Logic. Dura Ace wheels too. Ritchey carbon bars, stem , seatpost. Carbon hurts my back. Logic rides like a magic carpet next to my stiff Madone. Ride it often. Carbon hangs on hooks. Steel is where I started. 30 yrs and 8 broken carbon frames. I'm done

Well done. Interviews like this one highlight one of the many worthy small bike manufacturers (compared to the ubiquitous big names like Trek, Specialized, Giant, etc.) in the world building excellent bikes for diverse uses. And hey, if you're aging out, an old boomer like me is really gone 😁

I'm building up an Ascent now! A bit disappointed I couldn't get the og orange colorway, but maybe they wanted to get away from the "retro" vibe. Can't wait to actually ride it. My daily driver is a Miyata 615gt with triple butted, splined tubing, so I'm hoping the Ritchey captures some of that magic.

So you ruined the hubs on your new wheels from cleaning them, but that turned into a Hunt sponsorate. Now you have probably totalled your bikeframe and need a new one. In comes Ritchey :D The adventures of Bikesauce. Hope you get well soon man.
@TheBikeSauce2 жыл бұрын
haha so cynical.. little fact checking here - the hubs weren't ruined, just crusty bearings. Not sponsored by Hunt in any way. After my crash, the bike was totally fine. Ritchey also not a sponsor. Thx!
