This is the heart and soul of combat sports - bridging gaps between culture through sports like wrestling. It is critical we use these arts to get to know each other better and build international communities. This will foster peace for all mankind

Bro at 17:05 and 19:25 that’s typical Russian bullshit. The Olympics and World Championships aren’t free from this fuckery either. It’s always been there and will continue to one degree or another Whether it’s wrestling a dude that was doping and they just change his singlet, to learning you have one less day to weigh in. It’s really sad and hurts our sport. However, more importantly, it’s about how you react to it. Seeing Brands talking with the tournament director was incredible. He had every right to be pissed off with how they did Metcalf wrong. Instead he demonstrates his displeasure with respect and reverse uno cards that asshole walking away saying “So Metcalf wins tomorrow”. That was amazing and that’s why he is a champion and legendary coach. 19:35 shows the same attitude. Brands and Zadak refuse to give them the pleasure of knowing that they’re worried. I have so much more respect and appreciation now for any guy that medals here. I’ve always loved Metcalf, Snyder, and the rest of these boys that have literally paved the way for our current squad and that successful domination. If it wasn’t for the roadblocks that these great ambassadors fought through, I honestly do not believe that we would be the back to back world champs right now. Team USA is at the top baby, and will remain there for years to come. The talent is only getting better and they’ve learned from these boys. They’ve preparing for the bullshit, expecting it, adjusted accordingly, and refuse to use the excuse. They don’t take that bait or let it throw them off. This shows that with every World, Olympic, or Yarygin gold medal, winning on the mat is only part of becoming the Champion. I’ve loved this sport since I was a kid and it’s shaped me into the man I am today. And anyone reading this already knows that we’ve been through shit that 99% of the world wouldn’t and couldn’t do. Whether is was 20 years ago and you’re in middle school now, respect the sport. You have to enjoy the journey and it will make a hard man of you. Have fun the entire time, don’t overtrain, don’t make it bigger than it is, but please…. Hold this sport that I love with great reverence! 🙏🏼
