This Catacoeloceras ammonite was found on a recent trip to Ravenscar and dates back to the Jurassic period 180(ish) million years ago. Prepared with a Maia airscribe.

Thanks for the kind words. Always more to learn and improve, but it's slowly getting there with lots of hours of prep!

This was nice to watch! How long did it took you to work on this one?

I think it came in at around 1.5hrs. Was longer than I would have liked, but when the matrix is sticky it just takes a lot longer especially in the details and in the middle

Morning... Any tips for hildi mouth boarders? Just going through your videos looking for tips on how to progress

Can't say I've got a definitive answer as I'm still learning myself the best ways to do things. I treat the border like it's a broken section and don't prep towards it with the bigger tips as I fear it's going to break the edges of the shell off when the matrix pops. I tend to prep parallel to the border with the bigger tips then swap to smaller for tidying (kind of the same for all detail work). A lot of the pros then grind out the matrix from within the borders to make it more hollow.

@@dinoskool it's a daunting task.. Pin and chisel tip got me to the outline..... Time to grind I guess..
