I'm ready to see potato planting. I've never seen it done, and I'm sure it will be very interesting. One observation occurred to me while watching the "burning off" of the manure spreaders. You could have roasted some marshmallows while you were at it. 😊

Those would have been some nasty tasting marshmallows the smoke coming off of there is plastic and cow manure not exactly a campfire haha

Spring rush has started! I might be able to swing past Saturday and see how green the road is on my way north for spring break.

Have you guys ever thought about getting 40-ton pull-type spreaders to replace those trucks? What I've found, with help from a friend who went all in on them, is that you can replace three of those trucks and two workers (since it's hard to find help to run our trucks) with one pull-type. I run a JCB Fastrac with a Bunning 380, and it's amazing what one guy can get done compared to the trucks. It seems like a lot of money to buy the setup, but by the time you calculate your time, fuel, paying extra help, and overall less equipment to maintain, it works out.

Also forgot to add that with these spreaders you also have the capabilities to minimize compaction and more accurately control how much tons per acre your putting down

We haven’t really looked at it the ones we have seen wouldn’t work too well in our situation but I’ll have to take a look.

We have to do it with our tow behind Kuhn Knight pro push a lot on the farm poultry because if how much twine gets ( one of the workers ain’t the brightest apparently) sent through the chopper and ends up in the manure

Is the twine from the straw bales used as bedding they don’t remove before laying it down? Like it’s a large dairy and it would be too much time to completely remove it beforehand?
@RockyMountainFarmer
@RockyMountainFarmer 3 ай бұрын
They do remove it in the milking stalls because they use a machine to blow it in but all the straw comes from their dry pens where they just take a bail out there and break it up with the loader. They don’t take the straw out they say it’s too hard but I don’t really believe it.

Thanks for the video, what a mentality of that cow farmer. You would be inclined not to purchase manure. Can't they use sisal rope, a natural product?
@RockyMountainFarmer
@RockyMountainFarmer 3 ай бұрын
You know I’m not sure on that kind of rope. I would have to check on it.

@@RockyMountainFarmer Here they all use plastic, but I noticed that they still use old-fashioned sisal when making flax bales for processing into linen.
