I can verify that this method WORKS. We pulled 3 1/0's and a 4awg (4 conductors total) 70 feet in a 2" conduit with a total of 270 bends... the knots didn't even move at all. Fantastic method! I thank this instructor for our success with our pull.

I just completed wiring for a new hot tub and forgot to run a ground wire through my 30 ft of PVC conduit with three 90 degree turns. I thought for sure I was going to have to cut the pipe to feed an additional wire. Your method worked fantastically and saved me a lot of time. Thanks for taking the time to post it.

Did exactly your design/ method with the pull string, tension knots. I did not have a person feeding, so it took extra long. 100’ of wire, through conduit, 220v today. Wire and string was $91 at Lowe’s. Electrician quote was $1550. All back up and running. Thanks.

Killer advice from this great instrucional enabled this greenie to pull 100 ft of 12/2 through 1/2 inch pvc conduit very quickly. Many many thanks.

"There is a temptation to wrap a bunch tape around the cable...but that doesn't go well and has the chance of pulling out." I will not admit I know this the hard way.

I have pulled wire before and occasionally had problems because I never found a way to perfectly attach the pull string to the wire. Until I found your video! I just used this technique on a few pulls and it really is foolproof. Thanks!

Thanks for this video guys, it was very helpful. I had to pull some CAT6 through an underground conduit buried in concrete and this did the trick.

Good information. You helped me pull a rubber speedometer tube through my boat so I could feed pull rope to pull through a transponder wire from the back of the boat to the center console. It probably would have worked better if I had had some of the polyester string you used, but all I had was 1/4 poly. Luckily, the tube stretched but did not break.

This man knows what he is talking about! very good lesson.. only thing I would add is to leave a small tail on tape so it saves on time.. Take a half inch of tape at the end and tape it to itself.. easy tab for removing tape.. over a year this can save a good bit of money on labor... thanks for posting... excellent! Marko Hsv AL

Suggestion.... If you have more than 2 wires to pull - say 3 or 4 wires, stagger them about 6-8 inches where the pull tie is. Use as little black tape as possible. One wrap should be fine at each 6-8 inch gap to the others in the bundle. The pull string is taking the load. Don't want to get that sticky messy electrical tape pulling off inside the conduit.

great information. 0:10 - I notice the pull able is hanging out the conduit, how did you get the pull cord through the conduit before you tie the pull cord to the cabling?

Do you need a special rope or connector to pull. Running 200amp from transformer to breaker box, 250' in 2" pvc

Your pullcord knot slips. Thats the first mess up. Do a selftightening knot , follow with 3 slip knots going towards the end of the wire, then tape the knots from tip to end, and back. Then pull wire through no worry of a lost string.

It’s called the half hitch it’s a staple for wire pulls in the business. This guy didn’t invent this. However it is a correct method being done properly.

Will this method work on 12/2 electrical cable or is it only good for the ethernet cable? Do I have to use pull string or other types of house hold string?
@MadMetalShop7 жыл бұрын
Floyd R. Turbo well unless it's outside and outdoor approved cable running non metallic cable through conduit is typically a no go for NEC. unless there's a urgent need to protect the cable from physical damage you might as well run THHN wire in counduit for anything that's not outdoors or underground. plus NM cable will be a real pain to even pull past the first bend.

I always bend a wire over at the head so it doesn't catch. And thats my loop that i tie the string/rope/fishtape to. I dont like this head especially the tip of it, I don't think it's circumcised

why not use a pretzel knot? it creates two half hitches in one knot. less work. less time.

that will not work if you are pulling thru rough walls with sharp items such as nails or any sharp that will get in between the cable and the string

Tie a clove hitch 18" down on the wire, then throw 2 half hitches up toward the end of the wire spaced a few inches apart. Tape down the string tail, tape the head of the wire to the string. Takes 15 seconds, and you don't look like an idiot tying hitches backwards down the length of the wire like this dude.
