Please have a contest, with rookie preppers telling 1 thing they did this week and submitting it to you. Smaller the prep the better. (Crash diets don't work, it's the slow and steady that win) I am willing to supply the prize to the winner. Honor system for defining "rookie prepper" Other contest we could have are learning quick release knots for conserving cordage. Never cut your cordage unless absolutely necessary. Contest to keep gas tank above half for 2 weeks (this will put them in a prepper mindset) finding alternative routes home ect. Contest for frugal living. (Cooking 2 foods in 1 pan in a creative way for when fuel a scarcity) (shortest route to run errands not necessarily the order of priority for when fuel is a scarcity) honor system that they actually did what they say. I feel this could revolutionize the prepper movement. I hope you will consider my thoughts here. I plan to send this to other preppers too.

In the colder climates, have an extra pair or two of woolen socks. Also silk liners. Wool and silk doesn't hold onto moisture like cotton does. If you forgot or lost your insulated gloves, or they get wet, you could use the socks like mittens, just without the thumb extensions.

The concept of the battlebox is solid but you really have to subscribe to their tier 3 (the pro) to get anything of actual value. Which come out to right around 1400 or so dollars. I could easily increase my preps far better then the battlebox shtick would allow. Just my two cents.

I focused on food first. There is a lot of water in my canned food. I am a 60 year old and don't really have a realistic chance of defending myself against predators. I don't have self-defence skills. So I must hope for the best. I am focusing on water now. It is more complicated than I had anticipated. So I really needed to develop a water plan. I have a deep well and am researching ways to extract without electricity. Priorities are important. I have food that needs water and heat source to prepare, ready to eat food and alternate ways to heat water. I have lifestraws and water treatments for purifying. Next I want to develop water filtering skills. We can only do so much at once. I plan to shelter in place and take care of the doors like you suggest, but bad guys can break my windows. My bugout stuff is ready for the most part.

You can also double lace the shoes or boots. Giving you even more cordage if needed. I’ve been using paracord for my boot laces for a long time now. MAKE SURE to break in any spare pair of shoes or boots as soon as possible, the LAST thing you want is to be forced to take a 10 mile hike in a pair of boots/shoes that aren’t fully broken in. It will destroy your feet.

That's a good idea walking your daughter out to her car early in the morning. 💯 Back in the 90's, a t.v. reporter named Jodi Huisentruit disappeared early one morning from her apartment complex parking lot. She still hasn't been found. 💔

CONSIDER SELF STORAGE CAREFULLY: It can be very useful for offsite storage no arguments here. However it can also be one of the first places that can be seized for valuable supplies by the government or other parties in emergency or SHTF situations! If you have family or trusted friends consider storing some supplies there. Even better is if you own multiple properties yourself. Even if it’s just a bare piece of land with a lockable shed or building on it. We built a lockable shed to store stuff on our property while we were still renting a place until we were able to move here. We were able to save money by not paying for self storage and a had a fairly secure place to store our stuff. But the same principle applies to owning a second or multiple properties.

Don’t use an actual credit card for the duct tape roll… use an old used/expired gift card. It’ll give the desired flat roll and your not losing/tying up an actual usable card. {DON’T use an expired credit/debit card, a lot of companies reuse the existing card number when they issue the new card to replace an expiring one. They ONLY tend to issue new card numbers for lost/stolen card replacement!}

Backside of the hand is the same technique we used to check fencing and other items for electrical charge during storm work with downed power lines. If it’s charged you still get the shock but if you use the palm of your hand the electrical charge would contract your muscles and you’d being grabbing on and UNABLE to let go! The backside of the hand would knock you back and away if charged with high enough voltage. As far as fire yea better the back of you hand than the more sensitive palm side. And you would still be able to grip things with your hand and fingers. Which is important.

Almost all those single serve flavor packs have both supplemental Vitamin C and your electrolytes in them. So reduces the chance of scurvy! Also I personally HATE plain water, I want some sort of flavor in it! And it greatly helps if say you had to use purification tablets it will help mask the iodine flavor. Or the chlorine flavor if you used bleach/chlorine to purify your water. I also always keep coffee packets and teabags in my pack for this. Tea is great for not only taste but is normally full of antioxidants which are good.

You are talking a lot about amonition... maybe you could talk about this whole gun/amonition thing from a different perpectiv. Here in Germany even blank shot pistols (dont know the correct term - amo which is just making a sound but dosnt fire a bullet) are highly restricted. Some people are buying crossbows now. So maybe some advice if guns arent possible for people who arent criminals. Thanks for all the work you guys are doing for us. Edit: Local laws are hard too... if you are defending yourself and your Family against a burglar which has a knife and you are shooting him with a crossbow, you will be the one sitting in jail. Thats the law here...

1) a block of ice takes much longer to melt than many many small cubes do. 2) once those melt now you also have drinking water. 3) the fuller your freezer or cooler is the longer it can maintain temps.
@robertbates5537
@robertbates5537 2 жыл бұрын
Do not use FULL WATER BOTTLES. As they freeze the bottle will crack/break and as they melt down the potential exists to flood out your freezer. Open the bottles, drink an inch or two out of the bottles, seal them, and put them in the freezer UPSIDE DOWN so there is room for the water to expand as it freezes

Thanks for the heads up but I've never had any trouble with the standard 16oz water bottles freezing and breaking. However when I'm using refilled soda bottles I do leave them a couple of inches short, squeeze out the air and then cap them. Works great.

Yes; when I lived in Phoenix a guy pulled up to the house across from me and kicked in the door: it about 2 minutes: I gave a live eye witness account of him doing this and yanking a women and children outside and start beating them; luckily before much damage was done, the cops came and arrested him but I ended up testifying in court multiple times: had to move when he was finally released. What was crazy was during the time he was kicking and the people inside were screaming, NO ONE ELSE IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD even looked out their door or made a report.

It's hard to separate our needs from our wants. Prepping could be streamlined if we focus more on our needs: air, water, food, shelter, sleep, and clothing. We're probably most vulnerable when we're traveling on a road trip. I've lost a vehicle when the fuel line broke and poured gasoline over the engine. Going off the road from any sort of car accident, lost a friend that way during a bad storm. Being prepared for extreme heat and cold scenarios. The other accidents are drownings, falls, and electrocutions...known people who have all died from those things along with murder, suicide, drug overdose, and allergic reactions. I've even lost a distant relative from getting hit by a tree branch from a tornado in Joplin, Missouri. It seems like many of our downfalls come quickly by making a few quick poor decisions. Something I learned during some military training is the concept of situational awareness. Making the right decisions in the moment is our most important prep. such as hey maybe I shouldn't take that shortcut through a bad neighborhood, or go into that dark alley, listening to our intuition and leaving a place before it becomes dangerous. All of us can recall when things got weird, don't let your curiosity or reactions to anger get you killed. Stay calm, cool, and collected...that's a prepper mindset.

Your video is excellent. The 4 Types of Natural Disasters: 1) Hydrological (e.g. Avalanches and Floods), 2) Climatological (e.g. Extreme Temperatures, Drought and Wildfires) 3) Meteorological (e.g. Cyclones and Storms/Wave Surges), 4) Biological (e.g. Disease Epidemics and Insect/Animal Plagues). Something we've learned from youth sports is the W.I.N. acronym (What's Important Now).

In an EMP event, would an LED flashlight work ?
@joedoe7041
@joedoe7041 2 жыл бұрын
in most cases no. an EMP will damage or degrade the batteries that are in a flashlight, and if the flashlight has a microchip in it that would also get fried. and most wiring in them would also become overcharged, this may result in the bulb blowing or the wiring melting.
