What a great idea to use litter and a scoop for an emergency potty! I'll be using this downstairs in our basement shelter along with the other stuff stored for bad weather etc.

I love what your saying and the advice is great. I have started to become a big label reader and just want to offer a little advice-I buy a lot of Augason Farm products from Amazon but I noticed reading the labels that you have to be careful on many of the cans there is "bioengineered" ingredients in them. If you are one who wants to stay clear of it like I do then make sure you always read the labels. I can not believe how much of our food has this ingredient in it.

How have I never thought of using kitty litter in a camp potty?! Yes, it's heavy, but if you're staying near the car, it's right there. Smells so much better than the chemical options. I would start with a little at the bottom of the bag and sprinkle a cup on top every time it's used, then pull the whole bag once a day.

Augason farms currently has sale on some #10 cans . May be an option especially now they have sale being that freezed dried is more costly. But it's good to have all options, canned, frozen, pressure canned, dehydrated etc. We just never know .

Cheap, but effective tools for power outages I own and like: Power Out Alarm (alerts you if power goes off so you don't wake up to a warm refrigerator unaware) Power failure night light (regular night light but switches to 40 lumen lamp when power goes out, and converts to handheld flashlight) Lexall small flashlight (usb rechargeable 500 lumen light small enough to wear around your neck or on keychain...will light up your yard, has 2 lower settings) All these are about $15 and work well for me.

Thanks for another good list. When you remove the oxygen absorbers, can they still be re-used again? Also, if your viewers are on Medicare, they may want to check to see if their plan includes an over the counter benefit. Once a quarter both my husband and I each are able to get a set dollar amount of things that include over the counter meds and other health and wellness basic supplies. These items may include things like the food scale similar to the one you showed and these items are at no additional cost, it's built into your monthly premium. My sister couldn't find a food scale like that in her town, and I was able to get one for her. Using this can save you some money you are already paying to use this benefit if your plan provides it. Also, they can change what they offer from one quarter to the next, not as wide of supplies sometimes as a drug store and some things may go out of stock quickly. We never know if an additional benefit like this will be eliminated so good to look into it and use it while it's available.

Good Morning AG, Thank you for all you teach us. I'd gotten the Reliance luggable loo (portable toilet) you'd taught us about and I did as you taught and store the supplies such as the kitchen garbage bags that fit it, the tp, hand wipes etc in there. I just added that kitty liter and scooper you showed us today to my amazon list. I'm getting 2 of those scoopers. One for Kitty and one for the loo.. Love and prayers to you and Teddy

I would like to add a couple more tips... 😊 1) "Cooking Oil", I understand that Palm Shortening (not Palm Oil) stored properly can have a shelf life of up to 8-10 years. Most cooking oils will turn rancid in less than a year. 2) "Dry Goods storage", I recently purchased a portable/USB rechargeable canning jar vacuum pump (Amazon). I started storing all of my dry goods in canning jars (sugar, salt, pepper, spices, pasta, flour, dried beans, etc.), add an oxygen absorber, then vacuum the air from the jar. My theory is this simple prep will extend the shelf life of your dry goods even longer.

I used to LOVE shopping, I still do when it comes to food, but I am not near any cities or malls, so Amazon it is! I also like the subscription service so that I can rotate some of my preps easily enough, (but always have a lot extra because if we don;t get cut off eventually, what are we prepping for?) "Bugging Out" would be a worst-case scenario; there ould have to be no house, so most of my preps are those that are dehydrated/freeze-dried only as absolute last ditch or as additives. I think the added water in canned foods will be useful.

Digital scales are the best, & you can just put your mixing bowl straight on it, & Tare out when baking. I do have a mini fold up scale though, takes no batteries, it only goes up to 500g, for emergencies, or lack of battery situations. TFS AG, take care & keep really busy everyone. ❤🙂🐶

The thing I don't like about Augason Farms is they make some essentially meatless meals sometimes, but then use chicken broth. Meat eaters won't want those; vegetarians and vegans can't eat those.

Those Augason super can pouches are a great idea. My latest gap filler was a modern OXO manual egg beater. I can remember sitting on the kitchen floor as a kid playing with my mother's pots, pans, wooden spoons, egg beater, etc.. 🤣 Keep it simple 😉

Congratulations on FINALLY entering the 21st century with your new digital scale. I was getting ready to send you one, but now that's not necessary. Convert your bread recipes to grams, makes for consistent loaves and easier to tweak your recipes. Be really careful around water with that scale...it wants to stay dry. (I know from experience, I have a new one now)

Thank you your video. I have an issue with what they call a serving., .. just saying, ... and now I have an issue with overpackaging! AGGHHH!!! I guess there's more "profit" in the packaging than in the product eh? I dislike "change" as much as the next guy, ... but I can adapt and have done so all my life. I've gone from Homeless to Heaven so many times in my life that it's impossible for me to be homeless although technically, I'm homeless now. Just because I can sleep on a bed, doesn't mean I have a home. It just means I'm one lucky loser. It's the Old folks I worry about. They don't handle change as well as I do, being all set in their ways and all. Pooping in five gallon buckets, now that would get their nickers in a twist I bet you. I thought they may both pass on before things got too seriously nasty but by the look of things, they are doing great and the world isn't. Things are going to hell in a handbasket and they'll have to deal with it now. Mum may have dementia, but she still understands the price of things and a trip to the store with her keeps her gasping at the prices. And I don't blame her, I gasp too. There was the Box of Pizza she'd buy when we were children for two dollars and change to make as a treat and it was over $7 in the store last week. She almost crapped her pants when she saw the Lard selling for $6.99. Lard was a staple in our house growing up, still is, except I'm making my own Lard more than I buy the Stuff. The end of the month is fast approaching and I ready my "to get" list in order to celebrate five minutes of being rich. This month its the Feed Mill and enough feed to finish off my meat birds and feed for the layers for the summer, as well as feed for the new laying chicks I'm hatching. I stop turning the eggs on the evening of the 19th and they hatch on the 23rd. Then it's the Grain Elevator for another half ton of whole Wheat and 500 lb of whole Oats. I think I have found an insulated fish tote for the Wheat storage. A tote will hold a half ton perfectly. I'll put the Oats in Food Grade Barrels and everything gets treated with D.E. for insect control. They are perfectly safe from vermin in this manner and can be stored in the barn. Then it's the screws and nails turn, ... hardware eh? I'll have to save a little "mad money" in case of great deals or sales in the up-coming month. After all, $20 just bought me 40 packages of assorted Gravy Mixes at the local Dollar Store. Every week they get some kind of new deal and if it isn't "Made In China" crap, it's a food item. Butter finally went on sale for $4.50 a lb and I was given the magic card that pays for everything and sent for Butter. I only bought 40 lb, ... from two different stores. lol Just in case they had a problem with me buying so much at a time. Last time the idiots put up a 10lb limit per "household", not "per purchase", per household. Talk about being "rationed". I had to break into the designated Butter Freezer and empty it out in order to pack the new Butter into proper rotation. 40lb went into the bottom and 20lb came out of the top to go into the working freezer upstairs. Now the butter situation is taken care of, ... even if I was only supposed to get 20lb, ... I just feigned ignorance and I didn't have to feign much either. Just goes to prove, I can't be trusted with the Butter. Oh well, too late now! AGGHHH!!!! BUT! We may never see $4.50 a lb Butter again the way things are going. I know I'm eating the last of the $3 a lb butter we bought so long ago and there's not a thing wrong with it either. Butter freezes like a charm. I'll just go get more rolls of "Leaf Fat" and Backfat "trim" from the abattoir at $1 a lb and make more Lard, ... that will, make everything all better. $7 a lb at the freaking store, ... it's hard to believe, .. and I'm afraid it's only going to get worse. All signs point to "Hell on Earth". Ten Lobster showed up at the door looking to be cooked yesterday so I obliged and we had some for supper and now I'm making Creamed Lobster on Toast for tonight's supper. Yum, yum. Live like a freaking King while I can eh? Keep up the great work and good luck.

If you have extra room in the freezer, now might be a good time to stock up on eggs. I see ALDI dropped the egg price to $1.18 / dz. Doubt it's going to stay low with the ongoing war on food.
