Prepping for the Big Storm…Again!

We're getting ready again for another Spring snowstorm in the woodyard! Working outside while we can and making lumber so we can work inside making pallets and kindling. Will it ever end?

Rain snow mix out there right now this storm just don’t want to quit but at least the snow is off the trees an the wind has slowed down . Still no power at the Woodyard

It looks like you are having a beautiful day. The weather this winter has been weird. Ohio has had heavy rains, winds, and tornadoes for the last 5 days. Temp. from 65 during the day to 30 at night. Wet and uncomfortable. Glad you guys were able to get some work done after that last big snow storm. That looked brutal.

lol gota love the taste of pine sap in the morning . The sign is from when we went to the lions club wood yard that’s one of there sayings . Guarantee you will never see one of them coexist signs or any of that other like minded crap in our wood yard . I have about 0 tolarance for them idiots that have them plastered all over there cars . Thanks Dono! Yeah it was a bad one for sure. Hoping for some dryer weather ahead, but glad we got some lumber sawed so we can still be productive while we're waiting to get back out in the woodyard. The boiler is still running, hopefully it won't still be running in July! lol at least for heat anyway! Take care!

250 for a cord is what people sell hardwood for around here. No money in bulk at all. That's why I'll stick to bundles and small stacks. - Tim

The bundles definitely pay better! We get $400+/cord for hardwood but it's still not as much as the bundles. Smaller is better!

Thanks Jon! we lost power at home for about 10 hours, but still no power at the shop it's looking like Tuesday before that will be restored. We're sure we'll be getting calls from the tree services soon for more free wood!

This may well have been asked before, but, do you deliver firewood in the pallets or simply use them to stack/store/dump the wood? I only ask as it seems like a lot of additional work and cost. By the way… that splitter is seriously impressive! WOW!!! Thanks, from Australia.

No we don't deliver the pallets, just for storing and dumping the wood. Thanks, that splitter is a beast. My buddy Dana @ S'more Firewood modified it for me from it's original form it use to attach to the PTO on the tractor. It's come a long way! Thanks for watching all the way from Australia! It’s handy for sure having a mill . You would be surprised at all the things you need lumber for when ya have a mill . Around here they want crazy prices for lumber . It’s supposed to hit 60 by Tuesday so that ought to knock the snow level down quite a bit .

Question: can’t you use mill to cut one inch strips the length of board and then cut it into 12inch peace’s with table saw. Would this speed up operation for kindling

I tried to get his airline tickets to Naples Florida for Tuesday, and he said NO way ....lol.

We haven’t had any more snow but we’re getting a ton of rain down here my contractors busted but getting the footer and Block laid everything’s been at a standstill the last two weeks because of all the flooding 🤦🏻‍♂️. Hopefully this is the last snowfall you get.

Those are the short chunks. we either burn them in the shop or give them away or they add to the pile that's beginning to accumulate in the woodyard!
