You're one of the channels that got me to start prepping. Nothing fancy, but weekly trips to Dollar Tree and Sam's Club. It's amazing how quickly it adds up. I make under $600 a week and live in a small apartment, but that's no reason to wait. Little by little you can build a pantry...and a peace of mind. Thanks for all the help!

Thanks for commenting. I'm in a similar situation as you it sounds like, do you think the $50 club membership is worth the extra money then, I'm on a very tight budget also doing the same of building a pantry and such extra, Dollar Tree and dollar aisle at Dollar General is where I now frequent. Thanks in advance.

Go on a Saturday with a $5 off $25 coupon from their app and look for deals in their flyer to match up with and you could stretch that $25 even further. Though buy the Hunts pasta sauce and ramen at Walmart to save more.

I love shopping dollar stores and we finally have a discount food store. I have found that I get only one of something to try, before getting a bunch of an item. We found these chocolate mint brownie bites at the discount store. I only got one box, my daughter got five. I immediately regretted it...they were disgusting. They weren't spoiled, just gross. My daughter is still trying to eat hers. lol But if I know I like something, or probably would like pasta, I don't worry about it. 😁 I really appreciate that you are trying to help us with finding affordable options. Thank you!

You know I had to watch. Great haul and the Vigo rice is good. The Southgate Chili is good as well. I buy the Gosner milk shelf stable its excellent the ones I have dates of August 2019. I always pick those up on the regular. Shelf stable milk is expensive at the stores.

Have you tried the "Luncheon Loaf" yet? I bought one and didn't finish it. ...and I can eat almost anything. Just a word to the wise. I'm not even certain it's food. Tasted like a sponge soaked in beef broth. The other stuff is good. Yes, I agree the "southgate" beef stew is good. The moral to the story is to buy one and try it first. Much of the Dollar Tree stuff is great but a few items are gross particularly some of the canned meats IMHO

I've tried their Bristol canned luncheon meat and yes, it's not good alone, but it's a cheap protein. I diced and sauteed a can of the Bristol and then folded into a can of the Hanover baked beans. It would make a decent expedient meal for two in a pinch for $2.

I have a link above that sells Freeze dried stuff, and for that length of time would suggest any freeze dried over anything canned for 20 or so years. Most of the freeze dried stuff is good for 25 to 30 years You can check out the page here iridium242.thrivelife.com/

How long ahead can u prep? With canned veggies?
@rocknrollmonkey8668
@rocknrollmonkey8668 4 жыл бұрын
Steph L anything canned can last indefinitely. The sell by dates are just suggestions from the manufacturers. I've opened cans that were well over 5 years past date and they were fine. As long as the seals aren't compromised, should be good.

Textured Vegetable Protein. Its a protein obtained from soy beans or other vegetables that have been spun into fibers and flavored It sounds nasty but its actually quite good. Most of the time its used as a substitute for meat. If you ever ate a "Veggie burger" you have had TVP
