Mornin', gang. I have a suggestion for Olivia. In the last couple of videos I noticed you have to reach pretty high to get the feed scoop over the chicken fence. Not to worry. When you get to be as tall as your mom it will be easy. Between then and now, try taking a step or two away from the fence and cast the feed under hand like your dad. Only you would be casting through the fence. As big as the spaces between the strands are I don't think the fence will be a hindrance to the feed passing through. Give it a try. See what happens.

AL, the easiest way to keep your stove glass flan, is a very damp paper towel and some ash from the stove. You will think it's a mess but as soon as you wipe it off well, it's clean. Based on the principle of everything is a solvent of itself. Take Care

I'm dating myself, but my dad used to have a welding and repair shop. I remember going there as a little kid and him teaching me what all the tools were, etc. I remember a caliper measuring tool that he could use to see what size drill bit he needed for making holes for replacement bolts, etc. I bet they have electronic ones now. It might be a handy tool to have once in a while. Like for this video, LOL. Isn't that how it goes? Not that you didn't get the job done. As always, I learn a lot from you guys. Blessings.

Aww gee. Let Al and family have some kind of privacy. That's why most KZbinr's have a P.O.Box. They share so much of their lives already. If they posted a map I would bet there would be someone stalking them or walking right up on their property. Believe me, my former husband was a radio disk jockey and we had a couple of crazies stocking him. Maybe a hand drawn map slightly inaccurate

Al, have you thought of preparing a Planting PERT chart? This would allow you to schedule the activities necessary for your various gardens (greenhouse, raised beds, blueberry, etc.) You would be able to plan dates from planting seeds to harvesting. Better yet, you won't forget to start the next crop early enough to harvest before it gets too cold. I planned my gardens when I lived in Candia that way. It covered everything from planting sends to preparing the beds and transplanting into growth beds, leaving room for fast harvesting (potatoes, onions) and slow (carrots, lettuce). Let me know if you are interested.

I know, we used to have 3 dogs and they romped and played the same way. Now only 1 of the dogs is left and I'm the only human left, neither one of us gets to play. It's a lonely, lonely world.

Nice job on the wood stove, a must to keep the girls warm. Remember females get cold easier than males generally.

What a great undertaking that is.... to create a new farm. Just learning the 'lay of the land'. . and figuring out the best way to place things ... that is a huge task. Take your time... its a lot easier to change things on paper than move a house. 😝

It can be worth it to buy a few of those $10-15 harbor freight grinders for the shop. Yes it sounds crazy at first but they are cheap enough that you can replace easily and still have them setup with a different disk on each so no time wasted changing them to the job and just changing when worn out. The cutoff for cutting and a grinding or flappy disk for grinding/deburing so no using the wrong type as a good enough. A set of step bits will change how you drill in sheet metal

Meat loaf is one of my favorites. I make mine with a cheddar cheese center and at about the last ten minutes I bast it with ketchup.

We make our Meatloaf in the same size bread pan so we have leftovers for meatloaf sandwiches for a couple days. That pan is perfect size for slicing the meatloaf and putting on sandwich bread.

Have you thought about a small shed with a composting toilet in place of an out house? I was thinking you could have a small stove in it and it would be a place to store some things and get out of the weather if needed.

Good idea. It could be prefab built on the homestead and transported over to the 500 acres for assembly. bring back a load of firewood on your trips so no more buying firewood for the homestead.
