Hiii, I'm mexican and we actually use white onion, chile serrano (similar to the jalapeño, but definitely not the same), lemon instead of lime, salt and pepper, and no garlic! But I love youu, thank you for doing this!! And a few tips: smash your avocados first in a bowl and let the seeds (in the bowl) so they won't turn black. Put it in the fridge while you chop the rest of the ingredients. It's better when it's cold🤤

Hi John, it's so funny that you add garlic to your guacamole. My father, who was from Sonora, who, like me, loved garlic, nearly disowned me for adding it to guacamole. He was adamant that it didn't belong in guacamole because it is such a overpowering flavor. I love it chunky and full of sweet tomatoes and red onion. But as a nod to my father, I no longer add garlic. I so love your videos!
@sexyfatbastid3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I'm here in Puerto Rico & some guy I worked with SWORE that guac only gets 9 ingredients & garlic wasn't one of them. In this video, this guy used all the ingredients except oil & pepper. I'm gonna try the traditional way, first.

De-flaming the onion and garlic in lime juice is a pro-move that I approve. There are other things that can be added or changed, but that one is definitely a real game changer in the regular Guacamole mix. I still have a few things to try on my own: mix and matching some spices and ingredients (some purely Mexican, some not so much) but for sure putting the onion and garlic in lime juice is a thing of wonders

I like smooth guacamole on tortillas chips but coarse guacamole as a side or on greens. The trick for your boys and spicy food may be having it with chocolate milk. The chocolate and casein in the milk bind to the same receptors as the capsaicin in hot peppers, thus reducing the heat.

I never had jalapeno in guacamole before. I usually have guacamole as an side for chilli, so I like to use it to offset the spiceness and bring balance to the dish.
