Amazing Oreo Cake Recipe

Ooooh my gosh! I made this for my mom's early birthday cake and 4th of July celebration and it came out lovely!!! I made a two tier cake with extra dollops of frosting on the top and chopped in half Oreos for decoration, and it came out DELICIOUS!! It was very rich and decadent and had the most amazing crunch with the Oreos. Thanks so much John, again, for the most amazing recipe. I will never be afraid to make a cake again with John on my side. :)

🙋‍♀️ BAKING SCIENCE QUESTION 🍰 Does anybody know what might happen, when making this (or a similar) CAKE BATTER, if you whipped that butter for 5 full minutes (as w/buttercream so end result will be whiter) until it’s white and shiny, THEN add the rest of the dry ingredients? I’m curious how that might affect the end result of the cake?

I made this cake and it's so good. The drip bit was quite the challenge, so one for me to practise. Also, my cake sleeve things didn't work. But I did ask my hubby to sort that bit...and he isnt a baker. Maybe not wet enough. Thank goodness it's Christmas soon. I can practise!!

For anyone who’s reading and wants a couple tips: For the ganache - heat up your heavy cream to just simmering, pour it over the chocolate and let it sit for a few minutes. Then mix until it’s smooth and glossy. No chance of overheating it and you can be doing other things while it sits, without having to babysit it in the microwave 🙂 Also, if you want a more tender crumb and fewer holes/air pockets in your cake, remove the cream from the Oreos before adding them to the batter.
