Another great homily, Father Mike. Your words filled with wisdom, faith and inspiration reach my soul. You teach me something, that I already know, but you bring it to light and make the mass more special by your words and examples. You are an awesome gift from God and I thank him for your presence in my life. God bless you!

Excellent lesson. I had always thought the (important) moment of transubstantiation happened when the bread and wine each are lifted by the priest and bells or chimes are wrung three times signifying the change. 🤷♂️
@clelia88852 ай бұрын
Yes, transubstantiation is important and yes the bells are rung when Jesus is brought down on the altar, but He is not offered in that moment to the Father. He must be made present (through the words of the priest “This is My Body” etc.) before He can be offered up to the Father in the “Through Him, and With Him, and in Him” prayer. I used to think the moment of consecration was the most important as well. Some books I’ve loved on the Mass are “A Biblical Walk through the Mass” and “The Lambs Supper.”

Today I read the gospel and I found myself feeling like “Bartimaeus” in so many ways and times In my time at my church.. as the one begging in church sitting in the pew asking Jesus to see me. To help me see. that I’m worth Jesus seeing me. That I’m worth seeing me, but like Him, everyone was instead telling me to be quiet .. am I worth loving ? After communion, I was listening ti the singing and I just broke down, because I have been foolish, letting what others do in church stop me from seeing Jesus, feelings of unworthiness. Why didn’t I get chosen to participate in “special events”. I guess I’m just a beggar outside the church..

At the Church I go to, they've started to allow teenage boys from the all-boys high school next to the church to give out the Holy Eucharist during Communion. They also do the Blessing part if the attendant chooses not to take the Eucharist. Is this common practice now? I thought that only a priest or ordain lay-person was allowed to give the "Body of Christ" to parishioners.. or at least, that's what I remember growning up during 12 years of Catholic school. I've been an off and on church goer for the past several years. Only went back to Sunday service regularly because my children are taking their First Communion classes.

This might seem like a random question, but I have been curious as to why we never take the Eucharistic cup of the blood of Christ anymore. I keep thinking they’re going to bring the blood of Christ back to the mass, but it has never returned. Is this going to be a permanent thing? The Eucharist in the form of the host, but no wine. My dad couldn’t even answer me and that is unusual ; he is the most Catholic guy I know.
