My son (20) has agreed to listen to your homilies in exchange for me pestering him to go to Mass. (What can I say, I like St. Monica's tactics!) He agrees with the Catholic Church but "doesn't get anything out of Mass". What an amazing week for him to finally listen 🙂He contacted me and to say it was a "very good homily". Thank you for being the voice that he can hear.

What doesn’t he like like about Mass?
@mindybaggettАй бұрын
@CarolLarge He's an active person and doesn't like to sit still. We probably didn't teach him enough about what is actually going on in Mass, just that it was time to sit down and be quiet. Now he's an adult and hopefully uncovering the details.

Oh, my, I wish I could send to you from my brain a talk my former pastor gave that was incredibly wonderful. But as I type this, I got one better for your son. Fr. Mike gave a talk at the National Eucharistic Conference in Indiana this year. Just type in NEC, and his will be one of the first 3 that come up. What can I tell you? I felt the presence of God. Good luck

Please remind him that mass is the time of the week, the Sabbath, that we worship HIM. The time is actually for God and not us. Maybe find a charismatic mass, like a Sunday evening Lifeteen mass. There's one near me that have amazing music, has a large high school congregation that's energized and participatory in the mass, and the music is current Christian invigorating. One cannot help but feel the presence of the Holy Spirit at mass.

Offertory: I've been teaching my young children, "This is the part where you can offer Jesus your heart so he can make it into his heart. Do you want to give it to your angel so he can take it up to the altar for you?" Doing this since they were born. Their concrete thinking is just so darn cute: neither of them is old enough to grasp symbol or metaphor in a conscious way, so they'll actually reach up to their little chests, dig out their hearts, and physically hand them to their angels. And every time, I offer THAT to Jesus, your children Lord, your hearts, my gift to you Beloved.

Another awesome homily, Father Mike. Just when I think they can't get any better, you show me that they can. Great story about your mother. I am sure you miss her terribly. Happy birthday to her in heaven. She raised an apostle of God, who shows me how to worship every time I listen to him. You are exactly what I need in my life. Thank you for being you.

Dear Father, I'm 65 and haven't been to church since I was 18. I want so badly to reconnect with the Catholic church and heal. I live in pain daily, am housebound, and want to let it go. Make my life about love and worship instead of pain. In Jesus' name, I pray🙏

I used to feel like I didn't get much out of church. In fact it made me sad. I used to go to church with friends and family. Now I go all alone. One day I realized I wasn't really approaching worship with the same enthusiasm I do other things in my life. Now I put more in. I listen to your homilies and Bishop Barron so I have more context to understand the readings. And I sing as loud and as joyful as I can. And I put more thought into my prayers. Now Mass my favorite thing I do all week.

Father, did you experience trauma growing up? I know someone who did and most of the time he speaks he sounds like he's on high alert. I deal with this everyday. This is the way you come across to me. Many years ago I was a fallen away Catholic, feeling too out of place and too out of place. I was experiencing a possible divorce and felt as if someone had taken a knife and split my chest down the center and my heart was exposed. A friend invited me to mass and as the priest greeted everyone every bit of my pain was gone. I looked down at my chest as if I could have seen the surgery that had taken place. The pain came back after a few minutes but I knew Jesus had touched me. I joined RCIA and have remained with the Church that I dearly love.
