She’s probably one of the best critics out there! I want to be a famous screenwriter one day! I pray she approves 🙏🏽😭

Well, you had better read much more than you write, or you're just gonna suck. Because then your scripts are gonna sound like they came from someone who speaks much more than they think. In other words, your work will be vacuous and meaningless. And here's the greatest tip you're gonna get, and it has to do with intelligence, but it applies to art. "An intelligence isn't as much about what you can hold in your head, as it is about what you can find." So find the greatest works and study them. And if anyone attempts to discourage you from your dream, DO NOT listen to them. They're talentless and old and dead inside and would like nothing more than to have you join them. Anyways, the secret to greatness is that there is no secret. Work harder than everyone else for what you want. That's it.

His “Side Affects” is terrific, also King Of The Hill (not animated), Out Of Sight, The Limey, etc.

Thanks for your honest review as always. I will be heading to the theatre later today for a nighttime showing of this movie. I've seen some reviews from the YT horror community, and those reviewers have expressed some disappointment with the way this movie is marketed in trailers as a horror film, when it's more of a family drama with light paranormal elements.

Perhaps the concept for this film was initially inspired by Wings of Desire (an intriguing film), but has also slap-dashed elements of American Beauty, What Lies Beneath, Poltergeist and the Sixth Sense.

I checked out on Soderbergh in the early 2010's. I had enjoyed some of his films, I really like 'Out of Sight', but found his output stopped connecting with me no matter what he tried. Strangely, I thought of 'The Girlfriend Experience' when I saw 'Anora' because both films have a similar plotline (sex trade worker in doomed romantic relationship with wealthy client) but Soderbergh's film was so sterile and unengaging while Baker's was consistently raw and lively.

Hello Maggie I've been watching your channel for a long time and your videos are great for a long car drive. I was wondering if you could review the 1983 horror movie angst which inspired Gaspar Noé in a lot of his films

Kinda had a paranormal activity/in a violent nature voyeurism vibe with pacing too I did enjoy it just a little underwhelming but worth watching

i agree, the climax kinda ruined the tension and mood of the movie. it felt like a twist just for a twists sake, or like they didn’t know how to end it properly. the gimmick is cool and entertaining but everything internally feels kinda underbaked

I like this one for the same reasons that I like Soderbergh's Unsane. It is marketed as a mundanely gimmicky thriller, but then veers into icky drive-in B movie exploitation territory.
