@nenemaria-cornfieldsgarden4 жыл бұрын
It's not mould I'm concerned about. It's recommended that anything with water content, garlic especially, isn't kept in oil, due to creating the perfect environment for botulism spores to breed (water and no oxygen). Even in the UK where we don't do as much food preserving we're told not to store undehydrated foods in oil for more than a few days in the fridge.

Such a great idea! I have a question though. So when you are down to half the jar, you need to make sure they are covered with oil but does the oil need to simply cover the tomatoes or does the jar need to be filled the the top again so there is minimal air inside?

Delicious! Our tomatoes are done already, but I will definitely be making a trip to the farmers market next weekend. Thank you for another wonderful, informative video. Both my husband and I look forward to your videos. 🌻

My tomatoes always produce untill first frost. Did you just choose to have them done already?

They look so tasty - looks great for pasta and pizza especially! Would this type of method be shelf stable if the jar was then heated and sealed by pressure canning?

No, I don't think it would. I used to think I could preserve my pesto this way but found out it's not a great idea.
