@@aandyherr817 - Trump had no language skills, and he (clearly) saw no need to think before he spoke. He didn't care about communicating. He was a dictator, and that's what dictators do - they don't explain, they don't elucidate, they don't 'win the hearts and minds.' They dictate. As in "This is how I want it to be. That is all you need to know."

Totally agree...presidency is rarely perfect. It's hard to navigate the office and execute actions when facing complete opposition from a Repeblican led Senate who has publicly stated he would reject policies presented by President Obama. Mitch McConnell is deeply flawed and hateful being masked as a man. Every act McConnell strategically conducted against Obama should have landed him in prison...McConnell took this position because Barack Hussein Obama was a black man in the highest office of the world's superpower. Merrick Garland should be on the Supreme Court, denied a hearing because McConnell stated the 11 months Obama had left in office was too close to the election warranting the nomination be made by the next president in office. Amy Comey Bryant was granted a hearing within three weeks of the Ruth Bader Gingberg's death, less than two month before the 2020 election, an action led by McConnell. I'm betting on Karma to right McConnell's wrongs. It doesn't pay to be racist.

His major accomplishment was the ACA, in which John McCain (may he rest in peace) was a great asset in passing.....no wonder trump hated him so much and did not attend his funeral. He would have accomplish so much more without McConnell and the republican racists. When they set traps for others, they will get snared by your own traps...just a matter of time....the majority will rule and put the minority to silence.

I, too, love President Obama. However, I'll always give major props to President Lyndon Johnson. What a leader! Many of the programs poor Americans and "colored" Americans benefit from now were put in place under Pres. Johnson's leadership. True, he was a man of his times (1940-70s), but he knew and felt the pains of the poor and racially disenfranchised and it made all the difference in the world! No matter what the historians say, some of us were there: Vietnam was not Pres. Johnson's war. It started long before he entered national politics, look it up. Pres. Johnson's legacy is the uplift programs he left Americans. We're all living like human beings because of Pres. Johnson's efforts.

@@radiogoodguy6287 Obama did the near impossible, two campaigns and 8 years as president and spoke clearly and carefully, never letting his guard down.. By being the first black first family they were under such scrutiny, far beyond normal. Then 4 years of constant lies, criminal activity and now grifting, it’s like whiplash. Those pauses Obama uses, that look so natural are signs he speaks carefully. Am proud I voted for him!

I read A Promised Land and it easily was one of the best books I've read in years. One of my favorite aspects of the book was that it was so incredibly rich and dense with personal experience and information about the Presidency. The amount of decision making, frustrations and overwhelming scale of the job are obviously the focus, but Barack's unwavering determination and optimism in the face of so many challenges kept me turning the pages. I cannot recommend this book enough.

He wasted his party’s trifecta and the majority of his 8 year tenure was obstructed by the GOP. He did very little and, while not his fault, his presidency had deepened the political divide which was responsible for Trump's presidency. I’m not American but I have lived in the US long enough, in both coastal metropolis, mid west, corn belts and bible belts rural areas. I have seen first hand what political divide is doing to the US, and I don’t think there’s a way to heal. I’m fairly certain that Trump will win in 2024 if he runs again. I don’t see a Democrat candidate who can beat Trump - Bernie Sanders, maybe, but he will not make it to Dem’s candidacy.
