"There is no line, since half of Society is looking at the line from different positions", or words to that effect, was brilliant! I have listened to Dave Chappelle and I don't hear anything offensive. For example, when Dave was dancing with someone whom he thought was a Woman and it turned out "she" was a Transvestite, he initially registered his disappointment in "her" not being a traditional woman. And then he said: "Well, there are only two songs left, so let's keep dancing!" BTW, I am a White Guy!

I think the combo of his being an outsider from a very different country, having a less-common accent, not looking too black (sorry I even think this, but I believe this helped 'soften' his acceptance by some on the Right), and being an intelligent comedian helped him see stuff which we in the US were perhaps numb to. I thought he cares too much about what people think about him, and does not want to start more drama by having an opinion that got Dave highly critiqued. Maybe perfectionist, maybe if people hate you already for no reason at all then why not speak your mind just this once/all the time on those topics that people take to 'heart'. But then again, why exhaust your energy on something that you have no interest in, it is all about having a goodnights' sleep right? My opinion on society is that it is made by individuals who find a blow horn to make noise once in a while in a gathering of topics, and it can get loud over another individual with a different opinion especially if that opinion is true. So if you have the platform make your opinion matter above the noise, show em you got a megaphone baby 📢 so people can actually hear you when you speak especially if it is based on a common truth the blowhorn is trying to bury. I went on and on there for a moment.

Everytime I watch this I am stunned by Lesley's white privilege as she says "Ooo, that's harsh." Every Black person in America has experienced what Trevor mentions and we have all said this countless times yet she still is holding onto the fact that America isn't that racist. Just baffling how you can have everyone in your country tell you about their shared, lived, experiences and then say something like that.
@nissan_skyline Жыл бұрын
Edit: If you guys re-watch the clip and actually pay attention to their conversation and the expression on her face when she says, "ouu.. that's harsh". That's a look of sympathy, not of annoyance or being offended. It was a response to how he was treated, not how he views America. Trevor never said all the hate he received was due to him being black. The people didn't hate on him because of his race, it's because he was replacing Jon Stewart, and they never even gave him a chance before forming an opinion about him. Which is harsh, just like she said. Because that was never her life. She’ll never know what that experience is like despite everyone telling her about it cause she’s never lived it. Just heard about. She doesn’t view America (from her perspective and experiences) the same way, so makes sense that she would respond with “that’s harsh”. To her, America probably doesn’t seem that racist since she obviously never has to deal with it personally, and I doubt she’s living in an area where she witnesses racism all the time.
@abhikrajan8904 Жыл бұрын

@TheKayleeanna Жыл бұрын
@@lm_b5080 Sure. As a Black person in the USA, we are constantly subjected to racism from others. Racism stems from hated. So when Trevor, who is a visibly Black man by American standards, says he experienced hate he is sharing an experience that has been echoed by Black Americans for decades. For example, in South Africa, you likely heard about the George Floyd scenario, where a White American police officer kneeled on a Black American man's neck for 8 minutes & 56 seconds while he begged for the most basic human need... air to breathe. That is hate. So when Trevor says "that's welcome to America" he's sharing that for Black Americans in America it comes with the simple act of breathing/existing here that people will hate you for nothing more than being alive & being born with a dark skin color. Hope that helps to explain. And moreover, to understand why it is shocking that Lesley said "Ooo, that's harsh" in a judgemental way -- especially because she is supposed to be an impartial journalist but she was so biased she felt the need to contradict Trevor's words because she disagreed that America is filled with hate & racism directed at Black people.

As a black man. I've always wondered how someone can literally hate me and wish death upon me or in extreme cases attempt to exact death upon me without having known anything about the person that I am. Like if someone spoke to me for ten minutes they'd come to know that I'm an avid astrophysics enthusiast studying in IT to become a cloud administrator. Born and raised in NJ but loves the blood orange 🍊 Margaritas in Atlanta at South City Kitchen in Vinings and don't understand how I missed Tyr being Odin all along in GOW Ragnarok. I say these things to say that if you could see past my color(which isn't anything I'm ashamed of in fact I love being a melinated individual), you'd say to yourself damn, this guy is pretty normal, has goals, has fears, regrets and triumphs just like myself or Any other person. Racism is the worst of humanity. None of us can be surmised at all based on our race. We're all human. Hope we can act like the better parts of our nature someday 😁.

It all boils down to how you take it. Me for example, my parents are both mixed Hispanic people, but my dad is noticeably lighter, when the kids at school saw them for the first time they started harassing me about my dad, they were all black “Africa American” and I emphasize on the nationality because I had African, Caribbean, and other classmates that would identify as black that never harassed me or bat an eye because my dad looked white. My parents didn’t teach me to see people as skin colors, so I just ignored the kids harassing me and moved on to interact with the ones that didn’t have a problem with how my family looked.

And it's not a bad idea, because there's no other show like it, and not just anybody could do it full justice. Most viewers (including me) didn't think Trevor had "it" at first, especially with most people never having seen him before. There were rumors of the show ending right before his ratings started climbing. The producers probably don't want another close call like that again. They have some AWESOME people lined up. Not sure how you mean that. I thought this interview was awkward as all get-out.

I love Trevor Noah!!! He's hysterically funny, extremely intelligent and introspective, as well as, mannerly and kind. I wish him the best of luck and can't wait until we see what he will do next. Thank you Trevor!!! We all love you 😍

I saw him the first time on CC in Germany when the primaries in 2015 started and I fell in love with that guy so fast. He was so spot on from the beginning. America has another great comedian...Grats

Oh my God he is so well spoken, 10:26 his response to the question about Dave Chappelles "the closer" is brilliant. God has blessed this man. He is saving a generation.

Whether you think Dave Chappell is right or wrong is irrelevant. Nobody should be offended by jokes. It’s an art and art and speech should be free, whether you like it or not. Plus, it’s COMEDY.

Art is subjective and is open to criticism and if you can't take the criticism don't do the art
@ryanmalone2681 Жыл бұрын
@@ringsofblayze4026 I think you’re confusing criticism and cancellation. People wanted him cancelled. Pretty sure he’s got no issue with criticism.
@ringsofblayze4026 Жыл бұрын
@@ryanmalone2681 yes people wanted that but did cancellation happen? The only black person to be cancelled besides Kanye is chrisette michelle. Cancellation does not happen like y'all think it does. Accountability! That's what most of y'all are afraid of.
@ryanmalone2681 Жыл бұрын
@@ringsofblayze4026 You’re missing the point. People trying to cancel someone for a joke is ridiculous, whether they succeeded or not. It’s a special kind of stupidity.
@lindiwehlatshwayo8105 Жыл бұрын
People always take offence, but can you laugh at the offence? As for cancel culture we have #CalvinHarris to thank for trying to make that a thing. If something is so wrong, why not just write to the broadcasting commission? There are rules, and people think they can pretend those rules do not exist simply, because of social media trends. What people clearly need to do is go back to school.

So beautiful to listen to him. He is funny and so serious at the same time. Being called Mustard! I pretend to understand how he felt. Society is incomprehensible. I love the words of the TV chairman, when offering Noah the job. He knew he was looking for a home but at the same time he needed to leave. Searching for answers, opportunities to talk about truth, maybe….
