+Ryan Li -- We can if we're open to it. It's just the right thing to be doing. This is how I felt long before The Beatles made it popular. There has never been a decade or a generation where we've done this perfectly, but we were much closer to it back in the Sixties than we are now. Even with segregation still going on, we were much closer to it back in the thirties, forties, fifties, and early sixties than we are now. The "we" to whom I refer isn't us but, instead, those who have gotten the mistaken notion that Donald Trump is the best thing to happen to us since the invention of sliced bread. Before Donald Trump (who, actually, isn't the disease but, instead, a very bad symptom of the disease) the masses were being groomed to buy into this mindset. As for myself, I refuse to buy into this kind of thinking process EVER!!!

He ended his presidency with low inflation, low unemployment, big wages, started era of optimism and defeated USSR. We, in eastern Europe are grateful for Reagan and his anti-communist policies. Without him, I would not write this comment, without him I would not travel to US or any other country, without him I would not be going to US high school. I often get shit when I point out that most people who love that song are those who live a comfortable life thanks to capitalism and, often, U.S. imperialism. I consider myself a Socialist, but I still think that a world without possessions is not desirable, not even as a dream. "No possessions" is nonsense, as soon as you have something in your hands, you possess it, even if you don't own it. Thieves don't own the things they steal either, and yet they possess them. To me, the song expresses subconscious self-loathing of people who live a comfortable life at the expense of others. While they are humming along to imagine, they drink coffee from beans picked by people who earn less than a dollar per day, and once the song is over, they start their day of work: Buy a new apartment building, kick out the tenants, remodel the apartments using unskilled and underpaid immigrant workers and ask for rents barely anyone can afford.
