I think USA need to stop waging wars.... the people who did 9/11 were against the policies of USA being meddling in Middle east and destroying those countries..... so they tried to take revenge... I am not supporting those people... This same man man Bush, killed millions in Iraq alone after 9/11...

I was in 11th grade. It was trigonometry class, and another teacher came into our classroom to tell us about the first plane hitting. Our teacher turned on the TV for a few minutes and then turned it off and said that we had to get through the lesson. Most people in the classroom wanted to watch TV. But for 90 minutes we sat through trig class. Instead. The next block was economics, and I remember going into that class and our teacher had the TV on and he said "I'm not going to teach today. This is world history. You have to pay attention to it."

I asked my dad, why are those buildings on fire and he said oh it’s nothing everyone is fine. Looking back I realize that he was saying that to protect me from the violence and that I was to young to understand everything. My dad has since then passed away and if I could thank him for protecting me I would because children that young don’t need to know what happened that day. I think another way to look at it is that this was the first event to make you more focused on world events... Nothing new has been occurring. You're just seeing things through a new lens. It's like when old people say that times now are so much more worse now than they have ever been before. But they always forget the media is pumping the stuff into our faces 24/7 now. And we also have the FBI statistics specifically telling us everything is much much better now than it was before...

I was in the 4th grade and in class when this happened. I lived in a small town in Alabama and I was one of the only few Latino kids in my school. I got bullied for being Mexican and when 9/11 happened I got bullied for being Latino and because people thought I was from the Middle East. As a kid you only focus on how things affect you and I hated 9/11 for causing me so much abuse and heartache. Now as an adult I realize those other kids were just scared and they didn’t know how to deal with that fear. It may be over 20 years ago but it still holds a long lasting hold on all of us.

All I remember that day was after school watching the news at home, and just confused why there's so much smoke coming from the buildings. What I do remember a lot better though was the huge amount of American flags and posters (especially the one where the Firemen are raising the flag at 9/11) put up around my elementary school the months following, and the amount of American pride everywhere. Although 9/11 was devastating, October 2001 to 2002 was an incredibly patriotic experience.

I’m really curious what’s going through that kids head (the one to the left of Bush). I was around that age when 9/11 happened. I learned what happened, but I didn’t appreciate its magnitude - how could I, when I was only 10? When something this big happens, kids looked to their adults for how to react - I was only as scared as the teachers and parents in my life were. I could imagine being that kid and learning about it this way, knowing it’s super serious because of the solemn atmosphere, but not understanding the emotional and real life implications. He might be thinking how cool it is to be so close to the POTUS, or how boring all this ceremony and standing around is. He probably knows something big happened, but at that point it was just another a grown-up problem.

I think this is a great scene in America. The president can calmly communicate the state of emergency at any time, no matter where he is However, it is amazing. I envy his ability to tell the truth to school students on the spot. If this were Japan, Prime Minister would just go back to the Prime Minister's Office and read the statement aloud, and not let the students hear it directly. It is proof that in the United States, the right to immediate knowledge of the facts, whether adults or children, is protected.

I was at work, with npr playing in my ears like everyday. They reported a commuter plane hit the first tower. Needless to say after about 2 hrs, everyone was sent home. I lived 3 blocks away, downtown MPL, walking home was so scary, it was like a ghost town. I didn't see anyone on the street, and ran all of the last block.. There were reports that the Mall of America had bomb threats, and the then Sears tower where my family was in Chi had car crash blocks and extra security. I just sat in front of the TV, in shock as the horror was updated.

To this day I remeber all of these events so vividly, that event changed our country forever, I've lost to very good friend in the war on terror and I really dont want to lose anymore.
