Returning to the Washington Hilton a year after the assassination attempt and joking 'I'm wearing my oldest suit'. That President Reagan can joke about almost being killed shows you the grace and courage of the man.

As Argentinian I feel so ashamed about drunk Galtieri and his crazy suicidal idea to take the Islas Malvinas back by force, it was and it is a diplomatic issue. We are lucky that thanks to Reagan we weren't wiped out from the map

My twin brother was a Royal Marine Commando during the Falklands war, it was the poor conscript soldiers that took it in the neck, they should never have been put in that position in the first place, as soon as we landed back on those Islands, their day's were numbered, many died; on both sides, but it could have been much worse.

You lied Ronald, you said you was friend of both countries, but supported the British while the islands belongs by historical rights to Argentina. Wrong decission from Galtieri, Tatcher and you.

Reagan didn't lie. He sent his Secretary of State, Al Haig, between both parties to try and negotiate a peaceful resolution. And whatever the situation on the islands, the British had lived on them for 150 years, and any change to their status had to be done peacefully, not at the barrell of a gun. Thatcher was right to defend the citizens there. And Argentina paid a heavy price for their reckless war of agression.

@@Yobbie72 He helped and supported the British both diplomatically and military, he wasn't friend of Argentina. Kirkpatrick, ambassador in the UN, didn't rejected or condemned what Thatcher did, same in the UNSC. The ancestors of the islanders stoled the islands to Argentina in a non pacific way, even if I'm not with Galtieri's decission, they received what they gave. Thatcher needed the war more than nothing, she started the belic conflict when sinked the Belgrano (till that day no one British soldier were killed). The UK must restore the islands to the legitimate owner like they did in Chagos recently, anyway, I agree with you that a status change must be done peacefully.
