In the US system you vote for a king. Other western countries seperate the power of head of state and head of government. Have you thought about doing that.

But, I guess no one back then thought that one of the political parties in the Legislative branch would decide to lay down and play dead for the Executive (President) that happens to be their party. Unfortunately, on the Right, they believe in extreme universal power in the President, as long as the President is a Republican. Things are totally out of whack and I personally fear for our future.

@@colleenv5040 well, the parliament (Congress) is suppose to set laws, raise taxes and spend money. The executive role is to implement the laws: ie, jump to what Congress says. That the president like a King can veto laws is part of your problem. That and the upper house (Senate being able to dictate taxing and spending, appointment of judges and generals). This let's 1/20th of citizens in rural and regional states tell the majority in cities what to do. That is your biggest problem

He has focused on the working and middle class, and wages have outpaced inflation. He has and is doing everything possible to strengthen safety net programs like Medicare and social security. He worked with Big Pharma to cut the costs of prescriptions; working with banks to get rid of junk fees; reduced the cost is insulin; forgiven over $160 billion in student loans. More Black, Latino and women small businesses created in history; lowest unemployment rate on record for Blacks/Hispanics. Billions to HBCUs, MSIs. Millions of green jobs created that pay a suitable living. An infrastructure bill that will create good paying jobs for decades to come. Investments in climate and green energy; protection of wildlife, waters, parks. Removal of lead pipes. Expand healthcare coverage for millions while improving the ACA/Obamacare. I could go on and on. What did Trump/GOP ever do for America other than give tax breaks to the wealthiest and ran up deficits as a result? He’s the only president in history to lose millions of jobs which we were losing even BEFORE the pandemic. He mismanaged the pandemic, throwing away President Obama’s pandemic preparedness plan. Nearly a million people died because of it. He botched the withdrawal of Afghanistan, having invited the Taliban to Camp David and giving them a withdrawal date, but damaging intelligence for Biden. People still wrongly blame Biden for what happened in Afghanistan. The entire mission was sabotaged by Trump working with our enemies! He attempted a coup and sought to use violence against the American people because he didn’t win an election. WAKE UP, AMERICA!!!!!!!!

I totally understand. 😢😮 When DT was in office, I was so upset that entire time that I ended up having to go into the doctor. My blood pressure was crazy and I was on blood pressure medicine already. so he added a second medication. Things have been so calm now in the last 3 1/2 years that I don’t need the medication at this point. Here’s hoping & praying I won’t need it again in November! If you know anyone who has turned voting age and you can talk to them help them get registered and that’s what I’m doing with my niece who is now 21. This will be her first election she can vote in. I’ve not talked to her about it yet cause I have not seen her, but I’m gonna talk to her and I’m gonna see if I can help her get registered if she’s willing. My folks voted every single time and it was just a given that when I turned 18 I registered to vote. I voted my whole life! My Kids are the same way. They’ve voted since they turned 18

Atheist checking in to say I stand with you. I nearly joined St. John's in DC in solidarity after his grandstanding takeover maneuver, brazenly holding the Bible up as though a trophy. Also, I like your style. I do have an ECUSA upbringing and background, so you're not exactly foreign territory. My family, including cousins and their parents, was Episcopalian, although my late aunt referred to us as Junior Varsity Catholics. To the hard point, this SCOTUS ruling impresses me as the equivalent of no small chunk of Germany's 1933 Enabling Act. This is the time for each of us to be as cogently vocal in as many places as possible.

I just wrote this over on The New Evangelicals post. It was about the debate and about the SCOTUS decision. It applies here. Oh, and I follow Beau as well. He is my secular voice of understanding. ---- I saw things slightly different. Though I agree Biden's performance wasn't good, at all, I've grown up with older folks and what I saw, aside from his age, was a) he was ill, b) he was horse, c) he has a known stutter and everyone who arranged this debate, Biden included - who agreed to this - put this ill stutter-prone old guy on stage for 90 minutes, d) 45 knew they were not going to do a drug test and knew Biden wouldn't be on any, but because he projects almost 100% of the time - I can assure you HE WAS on something! So, yeah, Joe had a bad night. But we know Biden has a host of great folks surrounding him (unlike those 45 put on revolving doors) and until Biden dies, and unless his "Ronnie Johnson" ( 🥴 ) confirms some cognitive issues, I'm not worried about what I saw. Yes, I was at the time, but as I slept on it and watched subsequent performances from Biden, I calmed the hell down. Because 45, if made 47, that to me is significantly scarier than that performance. Especially with what has also happened post debate (SCOTUS). All that said, I also have faith in my Lord and savior. If this is the time for this to happen, whatever that may be, my faith will see me, and all the other faithful, who don't wear the red-hat mark of that beast on their forehead, will still be rewarded for their faithfulness. Take comfort in that. It may be a tribulation (as if now isn't one already), but be of good cheer, we have already overcome this.

The right seems to forget that this new ruling gives Biden that same privilege. He could have sham trials and lock up all of them and do a huge power grab, but that's not him. He respects the principles, ethics, and decency of his character. He is a quiet devote Christian who wants to restore decency to the American life. I follow Beau and listen closely. He doesn't blow smoke or sunshine, just gives out the facts and truth. When he gives his own opinion, which isn't often as he leaves it up to the viewer to form their own based on the facts, it is a really good idea to pay heed to it. I feel like Reverend Ed is much the same as Beau in that respect, so when he gives his opinion based on real world facts then I listen very closely. Pay attention to this particular issue as it is quite possibly one of the most important elections of our life time. Go vote your conscience rather than get caught up in the fanfare. It is a very simple choice this time around. It is to vote for normalcy or to vote for hate and vitriol and if you can't tell the difference just compare the candidates side by side. Better yet regardless, compare them side by side.

I don’t think they’d outright ban voting,but make it so voting is pointless. For example,a case involving a concept known as State Electoral Colleges,by which statewide elections for Presidents Governors,Senate,ballot measures would require a candidate or initiative get a majority of counties in a state to pass or assume office. It will end up in front of SCOTUS one day,and if they uphold it as a nationwide standard,California and New York and all the other liberal states would never vote democrat or have a liberal voter initiative ever again. There would be no way of a democrat winning over rural counties to win. It would be the most extreme gerrymandering,while still being able to say “there’s a fair shot for anyone to win and everyone still gets to vote,they just have to win over the most counties” Insidious.

It is incredible how we the people are going through this horrible,horrible time. I remember as a young child being told by my mother(rip), she said " dont you ever be or vote republican,always vote and be a Democrat " and up until now I never felt so many worrisome moments of being a U.S citizen. I will always be a Democrat for sure ,wil be voting for our President Biden and I pray and ask the Lord to please help him, because of the betrayal he must be going through from some democrats , and reminds of hw Jesus was also betrayed 🙏 and I ask you all to contemplate Jesus's passion and ask for His Mercy. There are three reasons I can think of why those judges decided the way they did. 1. 45 has dirt on one or more of them. Even though Justices have lifetime appointments, they could be removed if certain things came to light. 'Course who knows, since they also decided bribes were okay, so long as they got them after a ruling. 2. No dirt in involved with one or more of them, and they feel they can personally benefit in some way with this ruling, because this absolutely wasn't about doing what's right by America or "what the Founding Fathers envisioned." 3. A combination of the two. A little Column A, a little Column B. Either way, I wouldn't be opposed to a few select faces get struck by lightning so people with some integrity can step in, reverse this mess, and ensure the Mango Antichrist and his goons all face the justice they richly deserve. Or spontaneous wombat attacks; far be it from me to tell God how to smite.

I honestly believe they are ideologues who believe they are on a holy mission to reform America to their graven vision. Project 2025 has been in the works for a long time involving a lot of people involving years of strategic planning and tactical decision making. The architects of P’25 knew SCOTUS was the last and only true barrier to success in their doctrine, and groomed and studied judges. The justices on the court are just like you and me,though they have lifetime appointments they are not emotionless creatures of pure logic. They are political and have prejudices and feelings about how things should be and how they should achieved. And P’25s creators sought them out,once Trump was elected they colluded with his administration to make sure the ones they vetted as being true believers were the ones who made it to the bench. Rev Ed, I actually got very depressed and felt hopeless after the ruling. But, I've realized, God is calling us to be intercessors to pay against a Trump win. He carries a spirit akin to Hitler, and we need to rise up and pray against that racist, promotes antisemitism and hate filled spirt. It wasn’t his age that did him in in both primaries In 2016,his stance on guns made liberals and leftists think twice about him. He took serious heat for his NRA A+ rating. In 2020,it was his policies and electability that did him in. People desperately wanted Trump to lose and were afraid a self proclaimed socialist would scare off the same Upper Midwest voters that spurned Hilary 4 years earlier. the best treatment of this topic, not voting for someone who wants the job, as well as a clear look at politics, is, odly, an old science fiction book by douglas adams called the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. no, the movie or even the bbc audio dramatization is not good enough but the audio book is my favorite. i highly recommend everyone to read or re-read it and see how amazingly spot on adams was. it is a funny story too so it is entertaining. i consider this series to be his second best though. Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency (2 books) is definitely better. for singles, Last Chance to See is another example of how ahead of his time he was. and i love Starship Titanic. in fact the series that made him famous, while genius and legendary, is definitely the least of his works. all his books are entertaining, funny, but very deep and lucid.
