If I may add the following : If you want both amps to sound a bit more separated, add a short delay (20 - 30 ms) before one of the Ampire instances, they'll sound wider and more distinguished from each other. An ideal confguration to double track rhythm guitars in stereo in one take. You might also want to add a tiny pinch of pitch shift on that channel - something llike 0.1, really slightly pitched - up or down (I usually go for down, but I suppose it depends on the song and the music genre which one works best) to get the guitar signal sounding slightly different on each splitter channel. If it worked for ZZ Top on their debut album, and countless others, it works for everyone. And S1 and the Splitter make it dead easy to set up too. Back in the analogue days, they had to fiddle with the multitrack's speed and the guitar's tuning to accomplish this, especially when guitar players didn't have more than one amp, but needed to double track their rhythms.

I was first using Logic Pro X then did not want to buy a new Apple computer to take advantage of updated versions of Logic so I went with Cubase Elements 11.5. Then I found that features I wanted to use would have required me to upgrade to quite more expensive versions of Cubase such as Artist and probably Pro. Then I found out about Presonus Sphere membership for a very reasonable monthly rate that gives me access to Studio One Professional so I made a very easy decision to switch to this DAW. Once I got my head around how to use this DAW I was hooked. I love it. What I was most surprised at was how good using Ampire felt combined with great sound. This video opened up a new world of possibilities for me as a guitarist recording at home. Great video of an even greater feature of Ampire. Thank you for that.

Hi Joe. You have forgotten to mention something very important here. The Input setting to the stereo track needs to be for Input 1 only or the mono input that you are connected to. Many people with stereo interfaces only will plug their guitar into channel 1. They will create a stereo track OK but the input settings for that track will be set for Inputs 1+2. So only half this chain will actually work under those conditions. eg left side only, right side will be silent. Someone has already mentioned this on the forum. Not everyone has interfaces with 8 mono inputs. So for those with 2 channel interfaces only make sure the input to the stereo track is set to Input 1 only. (or the input you are connected to)

I'm having horrendous CPU spikes using Ampire. I have a high spec windows machine that runs multiple instances of CPU heavy reverbs with no issues at all but for some reason I just can't track using Ampire. Total bummer as it'd be handy when I can't mic an amp up

I haven't tried this but I assume we could plug in to the interface and set two different channels in Studio One to be active off of that one input. Then set up two instances of Ampire one on either channel and you could pan one left and one right. It wouldn't give you the ease of use that the Splitter provides but it would give you access to individual channels in your Mixer View and everything that goes along with that. I don't know, I'm just a bass player but sometimes I think way out of the box and out of the shipping container. 😁

Not sure if this is a bug or a feature of the USB 96 but I plugged into the instrument port and forgot to trim the input gain. Managed to get a sweet tone using ampire and pedal board. It almost sounded like my amp and pedalboard. But as I say, no gain on the input. I know that on the Studio 192 the line level inputs skip the gain stage, is this true about the instrument inputs or was I just lucky with the Ampire settings?

Joe, WTH I am I doing wrong with the splitter? Sometimes it works well, but sometimes, it doesn't work at all. I am using a focusrite, two channel 2nd gen Interface, following your instructions to the letter, but there are times that I only get one amp to actually come through the chain, either on the right or the left. I have also noticed that I start getting some latency and crackles and pops at times, when using the splitter and I am on a 3 TB tower computer and my interface is set properly. If I change the processing and sampling higher, then latency gets worse. Does anyone in here have some ideas? I have been recording a long time with StudioOne, no problems, great results, unless I involve the splitter.

I get it Joe! May I ask a question? You use 1 (single/mono) input on your audio-interface. You select a stereo channel. But you will still get a (sort of) mono waveform in the DAW. Sometimes I see double waveform in one track. But that's different from this approach? I love your video's. It brought me a lot. Thank you.
@presonus3 жыл бұрын
Double waveform on a track is when you record in stereo. For example. Two microphones, one plugged into input 7 and one plugged into input 8. You create a stereo audio track and set the input to (Inputs 7+8), and it records both (left and right) to one channel. - Joe Gilder

Hi Joe, Thanks for the Video, I'm having a bit of trouble and wondered if anyone here can help? Maybe I'm doing something obvious, but I've followed the instructions here, created 2 amp sounds using Ampire, added splitter, set splitter to split channels, and set my audio track to stereo, it sounds great, but my stereo track is only recording one half of the signal? any help would be appreciated, and thanks again for all the videos.

This doesn't work for me. I think it has to do with my audio interface and how I have it setup. Studio one is not great at walking me through my interface setup. Im too stupid to figure it out on my own. Ableton literally walks you through how to get the most out of your inputs in your interface. I have a scarlett 18i8 but can only play analog gear through mono setup. I've tried playing with it and adding "stereo" inputs in the interface setup and nothing works.. but this sounds cool though
