@@michaelpal7641 Block size is basically the delay time (in samples) between input and output. Lower = less delay/latency, but increases CPU usage (which can distort the audio if it's too demanding of the CPU).

I have recently recorded 4 tracks (3 guitar + 1 bass) everything went fine, no to little latency at all. Then I started recording the guitar solo, also it sounds great and on time when I play and record. However now when I listen to what I recorded it's like one bar to late in relation to the other tracks. It doesn't matter what I do it keeps getting delayed somewhere in the recording process so the end result turns out bad. I use the old Studio One 2 program from 2014. I have recorded other songs with none of these problems, so it's strange it kind of came out of nowhere. BR and great content!

Hey, I have a question, when I use a guitar and try to record I can hear the guitar before I activate the plugin but when I do I can barely hear the effect. Just some hum along with the low guitar sound. I hear some very low distortion no matter the gain settings and no matter which amp but, when I turn it up it's peaking like crazy, so when I adjust the levels and try to record I really don't hear the effect while playing. I'm trying to figure out what the issue is?! Going thru Audio Box USB96. 3 different guitars and it occurs when I try and record with the Bass also! Studio One 5 Artist? Suggestions?

I just plugged my regular 1/4" guitar plug into Mic/Instr (Ch 2) on my Quantum 2626 and it worked. Like others, I was worried that there'd be a problem because Ch1 has a Mic connected that uses 48V Phantom power and, on the 2626, a switch turns phantom power on for Ch1,2,3,4 all together. I've now read (and confirmed) that a 1/4" plug plugged into the combination XLR/1/4" connectors does NOT see the 48V out and does NOT affect the guitar input signal in any way.

In terms of sonic qualities, how important would you say is, how high the gain level is set on audio input? Is it better if you can turn it up more before clipping (better sonic qualities) or is it just a "knob" that is giving you pretty much the same audio quality across all levels no matter how much you turn it up. The reason I'm asking is because my Scarlett solo gain turns up to around 1/4 before it starts clipping. I'm wondering If I am loosing something of my sound quality because I don't use guitar with less powered pickups that would allow Scarlett to open up its input gain more. I hope this makes sense, English is my second language. Thanks. Great video btw.

I bought a Studio 24c and I didn't realize I needed an amp plugin, nor that I needed to plug my headphones into IT, not my computer, and since my headphone jack doesn't fit anywhere, I feel kinda screwed. Using the Audio Box 2 on a PC with 6 gig of RAM, I have yet to find a way to play with the monitor that does not produce a ton of latency, creating a slap echo in the phones and making the track out of sync with the tracks being played back. Did you go over the settings for getting zero latency?
@cleverhippo
@cleverhippo 5 жыл бұрын
latency has some to do with RAM but mostly with CPU processing power. If you open Universal Control with Studio One closed you can set the appropriate Block size to monitor while playing. If you set the block size super low, say 32 samples, it'll be processing the sound in near real time, but unless you have a powerful CPU, you will not get any sound at all. The higher the Block size say 4096, will give more time for your CPU to process the sound, but you will hear an audible latency when monitoring. The key is to set the Block size to a point in which latency is a non issue, and your computer can handle it. If you have a CORE i5 processor that may be in the 128 to 256 Block size range. Once you're done recording, save your session, and change the block size to something much higher so that you can work on your track and not kill your CPU. Also, close all other apps whilst recording.

Do you have to monitor through Studio One when you're recording? This works great when you only have a couple of tracks, but otherwise I'm getting a lot of latency. I've tried a bunch of buffer settings, dropout settings etc. I notice you have an Apollo interface in the background. I mix/monitor through one of those, but I can't record using an amp sim unless I monitor through Studio One and the latency makes it impossible to play. What do I do? Thx.
