Prespawn Bass Fishing - When a Cold Front Hits Hard

Go Deeper: Bass may move to deeper water after a cold front. Try fishing deeper structure such as drop-offs, ledges, and points where bass may seek refuge from the cold front's effects.
Use Natural Colors: Cold fronts can make bass more wary, so consider using more natural bait colors and patterns. Stick to natural hues like green pumpkin, watermelon, and crawfish imitations.
Fish in the Afternoon: In the spring, bass may become more active as the day warms up. Try fishing in the afternoon when the sun has had a chance to warm the water slightly.
Adjust Your Presentation: Experiment with different lures and presentations to find what the bass are responding to. Try finesse techniques like drop shot rigs, shaky heads, or slow-rolling spinnerbaits.

Fishing in super cold weather (In the North) can be super frustrating! I picked an awesome day last week (keep in mind the water temperature was only 42) and threw around a Megabass Vision 110 Jerkbait in Sexy Shad as well as a 6" Megabass Magdraft. I fished right before a cold front so had some great luck! Ended up catching a 6 pound largemouth on the magdraft and several other bass over 2 pounds on the jerkbait! Thanks for the tips Gene!

Gene, i'd like to know your opinion about ffs? There is no doubt whatsoever that professional bass fishing, opens, etc. boils down to who who can scope the best wins. Even shallow water now. I dont fish major tournaments, and obviously don't have to use ffs, but if 10 years ago when I really got into fishing, thanks in part to you, if all I saw to be a top angler and to find fish, I have to scan around and stare at a screen, basically playing a video game, I might not have got into fishing the way I did.
