I've been waiting for Gene's 2 PYL episodes for the longest time so when I knew they were coming on I made sure to tape both episodes!!! If I was Gene I definitely would've chosen "Double $$ Money + Spin" then passed the 1 spin left to Bob!

Let's look at this analytically. Gene only needed I think $150 to win the game. He had $10,842 to Bob's $11k. Double his money would give him $21,684. That would have given him a $10,000 lead but one spin and the risk of a whammy or Bob coming back with it since there are 14 +1 spins on the board out of 54 possibilities. His safest bet would have been to have taken the $2250 and ended the game. Literally you'll hear him say "game's over, baby!" when he hits the pick a corner at 18:42 of the video. If he had won with the double your money +1s, he would have won about $8,000 more than he did, but you can tell by the final spin he just wanted to go home and be forever remembered as one of the greats of the game.

Regarding Joy and that car: They pulled a surprise switch here. At the conclusion of the previous day's game, the Mexican Cruise was in the lower left corner - so ostensibly, it should have still been there for this one. Now, no one hits that corner "prize" in this game anyway, but if they had, guess what would otherwise come next in the rotation? The car! Well, A car - for whatever reason, they have two cars in the rotation for that space at this point. As to whether or not Double Your $$ + spin will be followed with a car? I'll have to see what happens in the next few episodes - but, that's very odd timing for them to do that switch right there. On another note, had a car been on the board when Gene took his spin that hit $5000 - the car would've instead given it to him immediately, by $41.

Gene, you got $5,842. That's $5,198 less than Bob. I think you need something that gives you an additional because I don't see a prize that is over $5,000 and $5,000 will not do it and you don't have any other choice because you got one spin from Bob that was passed to you and you have to take that spin.

Rarely do I root against any contestant, but I took great delight in seeing Joy get four Whammies. she was annoying as hell, pleading with the board for a car even when Peter told her the Round 1 board didn't have a car, and even when there was no car showing up on the Round 2 board. That combined with her obnoxious whiny childlike voice and her screaming made me glad that she was DQed with four Whammies. Unfortunately, this would not be the last we would see of Joy, as she was a friend of Beverlie Peters, who won on PYL. She was seen in the studio audience the day Beverlie won and would later join Beverlie on the set while Rod Roddy read her prizes. :(
