Mid-Michigan here. I put up 8 doz sweet corn in the freezer last week. The hardest part is the husking.

That corn is gorgeous! I actually have probably too much canned and was thinking of freeze drying some for meals in jars. But now I'm hungry for corn on the cob - lol. We soak ears for an hour or so and then throw them on the grill. Ok, going to store tomorrow for corn! Tim Walz is bad news since he's said socialism is good and has deep ties to China.

I never have cared for corn off the cob, but love it on the cob. Our local farmer just posted they have closed down after 5 weeks and most others no longer have corn. My tiny garden is not producing. Your carrots look great. If you have freezer room, I don't, but said to seal up 2 ears with a pat of butter and freeze then cook in bag.

Toni, great minds think alike. Tomorrow we will be processing 100 ears from our local Farmer. We can about half and freeze the rest. Finished 8 half pints of raspberry jam today. Its just a reminder that fall is coming, the garden is producing at full speed and not enough time to do it all. By the way your corn looks beautiful, our local corn is suffering from drought and the ears are small. Sending love from South Eastern Pennsylvania in the USA.

You can save the silks as well, dry them & make tea. I read an article recently that said it's great for those with inflammation issues. Another "freebie" from the same purchase! Also, there are videos on how to make your own dried husks for those who like to make tamales! Yummm!! God bless 🙏🙏🙏

They are locally grown and a very short window of opportunity ...normally pricing is $5 to $7 for six, not even a dozen! and that's why I buy and can NOW!

My daughter and I just did some green beans this morning. She was nervous about using the pressure canner and I am also learning too. I think she will learn quickly though. She has been doing jams, jellies and pickles for awhile now.

Corn looks great. Question please: Timing starts as soon as the jiggler goes on… no waiting for it to jiggle to begin timing? I’m such a beginner with pressure canning. Sigh. Thank you.

I erred, yes you wait until the jiggler starts or if you have the gauge, when it reads 10ibs pressure.

I boil my clean corn cobbs for corn broth to make corn chowder.
@lesliedean73035 ай бұрын
I would love to learn more about this! Do you just boil down the cobs in the water and then pressure can the cob water?
@HerHomesteadSkills5 ай бұрын
hmm...that would be a new one for me!
@cherylbond15565 ай бұрын
@@lesliedean7303 I've never pressure canned the corn broth. I actually never thought of that. I freeze it if I'm not planning to make corn chowder right away. I pour the cooled broth into "doubled layered freezer bags" and lay it flat in the freezer so it doesn't take up much room. I also have Frozen the stripped cobs to make my broth at a later time. The water that I boil the corn in, is the water that I use to boil the stripped cobs in. I boil it for a few hours. I have also used my slow cooker for this process.......overnight on high. This works well also. The corn cobs soak up a lot of water so I squeeze the excess water out, to get as much of that liquid gold as possible. Then I just strain and freeze it or make corn chowder. It sounds strange but it's a very yummy drink as well. It's refreshing as a cold drink and comforting as a hot drink. It's a game changer for corn chowder! I hope you try it and Enjoy! 🌽🌽🌽
