Alright guys...time for my weekly installment. This one gives very good instruction in basic attacks and will give you a firm foundation on which you can build your skills. Remember to focus on striking at the right angle.
Special Thanks to Scott Rogers...

This is the 1st video of this channel I've seen and I immediately respect that this is a teacher who knows what he's doing purely from how he treats his student/helper. His student is fully protected and Chris uses precise, controlled movements without hurting. My take away is that this guy is a bad ass who doesn't feel the need to prove it which lends immediate credibility. Thumbs up.

+John Thomas John the reason you dont see any of this in mma , Kick / thai boxing or any full contact martial arts is it will not work & most likely get yourself hurt. I am 52 & would be surprised (actuallyamazed) if this guy lasted 5 seconds in a cage or ring with me.

+Derek Thomson Hi Derek. You are wrong. I practice ju-jitsu which dates back to the 1600's and was designed to destroy joints and break bones. I see at least one takedown that does have combat application. Let us not forget that MMA/Cage Fighting is a sport and not real combat. I am a 22 year veteran of the Army and have deployed twice. Some of what he is teaching is very practical in a fight or in combat. His techniques are just a few tools for people to keep in their kit and to use as necessary. I know many throws and takedowns and I have my favorites that doesn't mean I won't use one that isn't my favorite if the tactical decision calls for it. I would like to see a video of you and the instructor in this video fighting. It would be interesting if your skills and back up your loud mouth.

+Derek Thomson have you even attended any classes that demonstrates pressure points i think your attitude would change very quickly. ive trained mma for 5 years and my buddy was praticing karate kenpo(pressure points) and he had me on the ground before I could think. some put you in horrible pain others overload your brain and it shuts down aka KO. MMA isnt bullet proof and isnt gods given martial arts. no one is impressed by you and you keyboard warrior skills

These kind of pressure point techniques is actually great to amplify the damage output on enemies in other material arts such as MMA. I myself have trained different material arts.. and once you know how to, for example, kick- you can do an insane amount of damage at spots you normally wouldn't go for.

Julie what i am trying to get accross to u is even if u became as good as "Scot" it does not work in real situations - for Scot or anyone else. I have trained with some of the best martial artists / self defence practitioners in the country (Geoff Thompson the best self defence instructor in the business also) worked on doors & had many violent encounters. Please dont waste your time on this, what worries me is anyone trying to use it only to find out it is useless & get hurt in the process.All the best & good luck in the future Julie

No matter what the martial art, there will always be someone to down it. I'm 73 and I've trained and taught since 1970. I was thinking of teaching my AKJ-American Kenpo on KZbin, but I have to be ready for the attacks; funny. All martial arts are valid, the man and practice makes it viable. I ignore verbal stabs at my art, because at 5'2" I have been attacked many times in my life and it ended with me standing and after only one move! So my variation of American Kenpo does work. Remember, doesn't matter how many black belts you have, you can still be taken down. Your training reduces the number of people that can take you down. Peace-----or War! :) This guy has good points like many do. You learn like this, but in the streets you use your training differently. Sifu

It does not exist my friend. It is fake. It is fantasy. Like i told before, i am a competition fencer. Despite the protective gear we use, i come home spotted with half inch bruises all over the place. Some of the pressure points are touched many times, and with force. Nothing did ever happen other then a 3 week "fencing tattoo". Besides of that i have 30 years of martial arts on my record. Legit. Kyokushinkai and Krav Maga. (and fencing) There are tons of legit martial artists here on youtube, amongst them lots of experienced competition fighters. There are also tons of competition fencers on youtube. All of them are hit MANY times on a pressure point as there are many of them and with every new pressure point style more are added. Why is there never happen something to them? Why do they all, without exception, say that pressure points do not exist? Why should they ALL lie about it? If you want to spend your money on fake martial arts because you like it, thats ok. But never tell around that it is real, never expect you can actually defend yourself. And i genuinely hope you will never find yourself in street fight. Because then you wil learn the truth the hard way. And i fear that the mental damage you receive wil be a lot worse then the black eye and a stolen wallet.....

+fcastle Boxed for many years and am an active martial artist. Can thesetechniques work? Yes. What I and many other practicing martial artistsfind fault with concerns a broader issue....that of confusing the comfortablesetting of a dojo with the harsh and unpredictable reality of violence onthe street. Reality isn't choreographed. Real attackers don't just offertheir appendages and remain still while you refer to the appropriate video.There is a world of difference between the student who is only there tomake the instructor shine and someone who jumps you in an alley. Theseclassroom demonstrations can inspire false confidence and depend toomuch on complex techniques and choreographed scenarios. If someonewants to be able to defend themselves in a parking lot today and nottwenty years from now after they have mastered the hundreds of "lethal" techniques offered in the martial arts, simple is better. Better to have10 techniques you can fight with than a hundred techniques that fightyou.
@bws205
@bws205 8 жыл бұрын
I agree. The problem with many dojos is that the sparring is not realistic sparring and that is the instructor and/or students fault....if you don't want to learn for real then you're not going to. Of course, many kids in those classes are not there to really learn to be able to fight etc., they are just in it for the art, exercise, etc. As you suggest, there are moves like kicks that are only effective when you are really good at them and know when to do them, otherwise its a liability where you get off balance or have your leg grabbed and thrown to the ground or punched in the face. And of course, most dojos are just businesses, which is no surprise.

+fcastle Many martial arts schools today are belt mills. The focus is on obtaining rank. Not on developing solid self defense skills. Many students attain the rank of first degree black belt in two years or less. There are far too many instructors who promote themselves at will without oversight. Belts arehanded out like candy. For anyone who has had some experience on the street the self defense demonstrations conducted in these schools where an absolutely obedient student good naturedly handsover his appendages and remains very still while his instructor goes to work are laughable. Against suchan attacker who needs to learn a martial art? Just punch him in the face. Or knee him in the balls. Fortunately all schools are not like this. And I'm not saying the gentleman in this video is a fake or thatthese techniques have no real application. But I'm not alone in saying that there is a lot of BS out there.Find a school that teaches practical self defense so you can defend yourself in a parking lot tonight withproven techniques that are simple, quick, direct, powerful and can be used even when you're adrenalized.

There is a difference between a fight, a demo and instruction. Watching the first two makes it much harder to learn. Often when learning a grab is a good place to start, that doesn't mean it can't be done otherwise, it's just a basic point of learning, just like many locks are taught starting with a grab, it doesn't mean you can't be the one grabbing or that the lock can't come around during a fight, it's just a starting point for learning purposes.

At a unexpected moment he use a real technique on them and then credit the pressure point technique for it. I saw this happen more then once. Why do so many ppl comment that obviously have zero martial arts background? You only make yourselves sound foolish. Why watch it if you don't understand but have no desire to learn technique. Watch viral videos or something. Or at least try to avoid being negative. I would like to add that beginners should't let these neg comments discourage them. With repitition and practice you can absolutely utilize these type of techniques in any fight. Its like riding a bike... once you develop a comfortable flow you loose the need to think about these steps as you take them. You will simply use them in a reflexive mode. Patience and practice! Good luck on your road to self improvement. Martial Arts are valuable to the dedicated practitioners.

Thing about these type of videos is that you can never be sure how someone will react.... what if you palm strike there stomach and the guy doesnt bet? or throws a headbutt how can you guarantee these combinations this is more like a script in a fight for a movie... the only true fighting styles that work are use of a jab or hooks , leg kicks double leg take downs.... you have more of a chance of landing them then anything

One can never be certain of what options will be available since each person is different, that's why it's a good ideal to never stop learning, the day you think you know enough will be the day someone hurts you.

Lol I get the feeling none of you have ever been in a real fight, and used actual martial arts until you do, you don't know shit. To say only hooks jabs and kicks are the only real effective way of fighting is straight up ignorance and retardation.

I think a lot of you guys are underestimating this video. The demonstration isn't meant for a full out fight between two guys. It's more-or-less useful techniques in a situation where someone who isn't looking for a fight grabs you and learning how to escape safely. Obviously these methods probably won't work on an extremely experienced fighter but if you're getting mugged, and there's a chance that the mugger doesn't know how to/expect a fight, then these work well.

+Chris Daniel Takes tons of hard practice. Start with one good technique, learn it--really learn it--then practice another. The time-honored rule is "perfect practice makes perfect." And don't look for fights. Only the best practitioners with superb skill sets can get away with that stuff.

I've studied fighting all over the world, practices it in jungles, deserts, mountains and alone. You actually seem to know what you are saying. The challenge is to be grounded enough to apply what you know. You've covered the first point well. The joker card always comes unexpectedly, a warrior must be able to respond within 5 seconds of the event. There is no way to train for a emergency, in here is the challenge. Only presences of spirit and higher awareness will bring this about. I'd like to hear what you say about this. I'll be watching, thanks

knowledge of many of these pressure point can be dangerous in fight. much of the time I practice the power of being able to hit the points and being able to adjust the technique for different opponents. I've use very little of the points so far and done pretty well in a few fights so far. Knee to thigh is a great point start off with they have hard time responding to it with out it hurting and some just didn't want to continue after that.

If you want to learn to defend yourself there is a way you can do it with 100% success. Find one of these three places: Boxing , Muay Thai or MMA gym. Join one of these places, then you do drill your basic techniques till you sweat, and you sweat in the gym so you don't bleed on the street. Do this for about 3 times a week for 4 months and you will be able to protect yourself against most people.

What I think most people are forgetting about this is that these aren't tips to kick someone's butt in a street fight -- they're for self defense so you won't feel like a complete victim against someone stronger or bigger than you. If you think these moves aren't useful, they probably aren't of very much use to you since you're using them for the wrong reason. They're better than nothing, and can indeed help someone defend themselves. I was put into a choke hold one time to the point where the person (an ex-army recruit who had been kicked out for drug abuse) kept bringing me in and out of consciousness. If you've ever been in this position for any amount of time (> 1 minute), you'll be relieved to know there's a way to possiblity prevent someone from doing this.

These are self defense techniques not MMA/Cage fighting techniques. I can tell you for sure that variations of what he is teaching are used in MMA. These are solid techniques and not irresponsible at all. Every system has their techniques and they feel they are the best, I try not to do that I try to look at what is being taught and use what I think works for me and let the rest go or file it for later. I don't know this guy either. I just recognize some of what he is teaching and know that it works from my experience. We don't emphasize pressure points in my system we do joint manipulation, striking, throws, and grappling but several of his techniques are the same as ours. We attack the same areas and get the same result. Choosing how to respond to an attack is tactical decision and not a near sighted I'm only going to do this one thing decision. Always using stand up to defeat an attack in no more the answer than always using BJJ to defend an attack.

....at 16:45, it looks like it may be very advantageous to strike both eyes with the finger tips, and, or the heel of the palms. either might "blind" the aggressor from continuing their attack.

On that first frontal bear hug defence, just snap the arm. Once you have them unbalanced and going down, apply some "fa jing" in opposition to the direction of the assailant's fall and let their body weight do the rest of the work. No "locking" necessary. They land face up, and can grab or hit you with their free arm! Take them out as they fall, don't go down with them if you can help it!

If you grab someone by the wrist they can counter that by applying pressure to the thumb moving their hand towards their body and pulling their arm around their body and pulling the arm up while still applying pressure to the wrist.
