Watching the video, I noticed your 3/4 gas line is secured with 1 hole straps in the wall. I’m a HVAC contractor in NC and I know here they specify not to secure the gas line inside of the wall cavity. That’s also specified in the trac pipe installation guide. Thought I’d mention it, the CSST pipe inside of the black jacket is meant to be able to move out of the way in case you’re ever hanging a picture or shelf or anything like that in the future and a nail/screw hits the line. If it’s secured then the pipe won’t be able to move slightly to prevent a puncture. If it’s not secured the. It will move slightly out of the way to prevent a picture. I hope the way I’m describing that makes sense but obviously codes in Florida may be different. Keep up the good content!

Another thing we have to do is use hardened strike plates for the gas lines
@TKCL3 жыл бұрын
I'm definitely not familiar with local code for gas lines, that's why I hired a company for this installation. I will say that after foam insulation is sprayed in, the line won't be moving regardless if clamps. But I see what you mean.

@@TKCL very true! I didn’t think of that. Pretty interesting seeing the different codes in different areas.

Also spray the schrader on the gauge for the propane air test. That could be leaking too. Happens alot. Usually there is a valve on there to close so that doesn't leak.

We did check that valve, we found the problem. I'll explain in an upcoming video

Mr. Kelley. I commented a while ago, pretty rudely, about you running on and on. I do not take credit, but I have noticed your videos have been more to the point, yet with your same personality. I'm enjoying them a lot more. More importantly, you're making really good progress lately and I'm pretty excited for you! Hello, I was catching up on your build and I just watched your plumbing video, When my house was built the builders used some called PEX Piping for the hot and cold water plumbing in my house, it was very cool to see and very different from PVC.

Ironically... my career is based on my natural born ability to break stuff (since age 5 I think, according to my grandmother's recollections of the Sears' repairman visits). So, I guess I'm considered a hacker of sorts. When something fails miserably, I simply say I was testing and found a problem. SUCCESS!

The good news is that testing gas lines at a 30 PSI will find leaks not normally indicated at normal operating pressures. of 0.4 PSI. The bad news is you can't test appliance and regulator connections at those pressures or you risk damage. A spray bottle filled with water and a teaspoon of dish soap mixed well together will identify even the tiniest of leaks in a gas line. The key is that the soap has to be diluted. A leaking gas line is a dangerous situation. Make 100% sure it is resolved.

To each their own, but this is why I'm afraid to build my home with gas lines. I understand you found a leak in the begin process and working to address the issue. But what would happen 5-10-15 years down the road when fittings/lines begin to wear or loosen... I'm naturally paranoid with anxiety lol, I would freak myself out everyday wondering if the gas lines are still stable. I've seen home explosions from gas lines and it terrifies me.
@TKCL3 жыл бұрын
There's risk in everything! Do you lay awake all night worried that a couple thousand feet of electrical lines in your walls, ceilings, basements ect could ignite a fire at anytime? What about all the unseen plumbing in the ceiling and walls that could be leaking and causing significant damage. Point is to double and triple check these things to provide as safe of an install as possible. They also make propane detectors for extra piece of mind. Thanks for watching

Those windows protected by such deep porches don’t need the sloped sills. Only windows on an exposed face of the house. If your window guys hav taken measurements then they now need to come back and take measurements again since the window sizes have changed.
