Senator Chris Murphy talks about why right now is a pivotal moment in Russia's war on Ukraine, not only as new military aid is helping Ukraine turn the tide, but also because Russia's buffer against the effects of Western sanctions is due to run out, delivering a crippling economic blow.

Has anyone considered this irony. Putin tried to justify his purely territorial conquest as demilitarization and denazification operation. Considering how many neonazis were among the Russians and especially pro-Russian separatist combatants (as per wiki article on Donbas war "Far-right nationalist groups have played a greater role on the pro-Russian side of the conflict than on the Ukrainian side, especially at the beginning") many of whom have died in fighting, and the loss of a quarter of Russia's military strength in barely 3 months, meanwhile Ukraine has become probably the most armed country in Europe due to Western support and their national spirit is currently off the charts due to their success at resisting Russian advance. You could say Putin is denazifying and demilitarizing Russia while militarizing and nazifying Ukraine. Good job Putin.

About those high gas prices, Americans should have a stern word with their suppliers of gas. Oil prices are not exceptionally high: they were significantly higher 10 years ago. Also the gas that you buy today has been made from oil bought well before the war started. So, apparently, suppliers are gauging prices up. Companies are profiteering off this war, driving up their profits using the war as an excuse.

When Trump started his tariff battle with China, they stopped buying from US farmers and found other sources for their soybeans. That agricultural trade is permanently lost. Russia will feel the same pain. As countries turn to other sources for their oil and gas, they won't return to Russia because they won't again make the mistake of becoming dependent on Russia. Here in Denmark we have pushed for faster green energy change. It turns out that we do have enough room for solar panels and they are easy and fast to build. However the issue is the power grid. Because it is naturally strongest were most people live, and weaker were few people live. So it need to be expanded, and that takes more time than putting up the solar farms. But the gouverment are working on expanding it now. We need to get rid of gas as much as possible. We have stored enough gas for a long time, however some factories only uses gas. Such as beer bottle producers and malt makers. Those who supply heat for homes, have all said that it is easy to change production, to not use gas at all. They all use many different fuel sources anyway.

Hi Mark, thank you. I am born in Germany and lived 70 years here now. I can compare our country with lots of others which i have visited as a tourist or for job related activities. I've seen many beautiful places and met lots of friendly people, but i'm always kind of relieved to come back here 😃 Everything works, it is secure and rich. I hope the half a million Ukrainians we have welcomed until now will feel the same. We have somehow managed to integrate far over a million of refugees from Syria and neighboring areas. The shelters and accommodations they had to use at first are mostly free now and can be put to new usage. I am old now, and i've been born long after the rubble of WWII have been cleared away. It is history - correct, but for me the old saying is true: 'He who forgets history is condemned to repeat it'. We should never forget and never stop to teach the young ones! And - for the content of this video - i would rather not to see weapons developed here in any news media from inside a war zone! After ten years in Germany, you will know the very ambiguous relation of most Germans towards weapons, no matter if in private hands or used in wars.

Russia will have more countries on Russia's border joining NATO than before February 24th, therefore his nightmare that NATO is even closer to the Russian border will be fulfilled. Had he not invaded Ukraine these countries would most likely not have applied to join NATO, after, they were guaranteed to do so. All this in addition to Russia being crippled by sanctions, blocked from exporting and becoming a pariah state, the equivalent of N. Korea 2.0...

It completely depends on the ammunition used. Whilst standard ammunition can reach around 30 kilometers, you can use base bleed ammunition out to more than 40 kilometers and V-LAP at up to 54 kilometers (according to KMW the manufacturer of the PzH2000). Even more could be possible with ammunition like Excalibur or Vulcano. Rheinmetall tested the maximum range of some shells in South Africa in 2019 fired from the PzH2000 and the G6. Assegai M2005-V-LAP fired from the PzH2000 reached almost 67 kilometers (41,6 miles) and M9703 Prac Inert V-LAP fired from a modified G6 reached slightly more than 76 kilometers (47 miles).

@@kenmay7400 Here is the answer. If the petrodollar system collapses, you are looking at 30%+ inflation with zero Fed to control it except interest rates in the 20%+ to try to limit. What you don't understand and most Americans is that the petrodollar system was created to export inflation. Inflation in the US has not been real in 50 years. If the petrodollar collapses, so does external demand for treasuries and the exportation of dollars for oil purchases. The existing dollars come home with the attached inflation and a sudden jump in domestic money supply. Of course, new dollars will be printed to service the debt (now at 30 trillion+) but they can no longer be exported to lower inflation. A major crisis happens. Plus you are looking at massively rising inflation. So, yes it sucks to be financing this, but that is the scenario they are trying to prevent. No, it is not fair. But that is the situation.
