PRESTO CANNER DIAL GUAGE NOT WORKING ~ Here's An ALTERNATIVE!

My gauge has not worked properly for several months and unfortunately I don't have a local extension office that can correct this for me. Which is why It's always best to have a back up regulator and gauge for your pressure canners. You can find the weighted regulator in our Amazon

I have multiple pressure canners. I have one I bought back in 1991 and its a 22 qt. I replaced the solid weight for the 3 piece and love it. I consider it and the gage together as dbl cking my pressure in the canner.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I cannot find a single extension office in a 50 mile radius who can calibrate the pressure gauge (and there are 10 of them!). This way, I can know if my gauge is working. I also heard from an experienced canner that after a while, you can just listen and know the pressure is right by the rocking of the gauge, but I didn't understand what she meant... now I do. You are the BEST!!

I called presto directly and they said the three piece regulator is good. I live at 7,000 ft and use all three pieces for 15psi. As long as the regulator continues to rock gently i don't have to worry about what the guage says. The regulator won't start to rock until it reaches the correct psi for my altitude. I bought an extra 3 piece regulator in case something happens to it. I no longer worry about the gauge, it's peace of mind for me.
