presto pressure canner not building pressure or locking

problem #1: trouble shoot for vent lock not initiating with latch and excess water leaking from seal. Other words it's not popping up.
problem #2: The air vent lock is up, and after the 10 minutes required to bleed the air, you put your weight on, but you are getting very little or no pressure reading on gauge. water and pressure leaking from seal also.
I cover how to fix both these problems. my explanation should fix both these problems as long as your gasket isn't damaged or any other parts on canner. I just made this because there aren't any videos I've seen covering these. Also, the video will cover how to replace this part if needed.

Thank you! This helps so much!! I've never had this pin lock thing leak steam before but I've been stuck at 5psi for 15 mins now with a near steady stream coming out of this spot. I turned the stove off and I'm gonna wait til it cools and try tightening it. I so hope this is the issue and that your video was as helpful to my situation as I currently assume it is. My little overpressure valve just went bad. Steam was pouring from under the little button. New one arrives tomorrow. 🤦🏾‍♀️

Do you use new lids? Some of mine popped but it did not come to 10lbs pressure only 3

I would use new lids if you got extras. The issue was with my second batch, and half the buttons stayed down in the fridge even though they never got to pressure and were not safe to put in the pantry. I would just replace them to be safe.

Yes, I am frustrated. Canner full of chicken pressure gauge not working. It's late and I am tired. I also have a new Presto canner. Stopping for tonight.

I believe I heard something about debris or hard water deposits plugging the hole on the gauge preventing it from getting a reading. But my issue was the pressure lock leaking. Hope you got it figured out.
