Hezbollah's Nightmare - Israeli Strikes Overwhelm Top Iranian Proxy

Israel's air campaign is proving too much for Hezbollah, but they still have a few options left.
Lebanese Hezbollah is in the middle of one of the worst ten day stretches in the group's history. After going back and forth with Israel since October 8th, the pressure began to mount in July when a senior leader was eliminated and the Hezbollah response was almost entirely thwarted. Since they, Israel has increased pressure on the group in the hopes that they stop attacks into Israeli territory. In the past ten days we've seen a cover operation targeting Hezbollah pagers, assassinations of key officials and now the targeted bombing of Hezbollah military facilities across southern Lebanon. The coming days and weeks will tell us if Hezbollah is in fact on the brink of collapse, if they decide to lash out with their long range missiles, and if Iran comes to their rescue.

Actually not quite These are golan druze, which unlike 48 druze, mostly refuse Israeli citizenship. It's a complicated situation, as they have a lot of relatives in syria, and by their religion, should be loyal to the state they're living in. So whether it's Israel or syria, is a question. In recent years there have been a growing trend of golan druze applying for citizenship, but most still don't. Regardless, they are all at least permanent residents of Israel, and Israel is committed to their defense, even if most are not Israeli per se.

It was important to clarify that they're Druze because the majority of the non-Israeli audience would incorrectly assume Israeli children to be Jewish. Most don't think of Israel being ethnically and culturally diverse, and think it's all Jewish people. Pointing out they're Druze has multiple effects: Prevents the incorrect assumption. Shows some of the diversity of Israel. Shows it's not just Jews vs Muslims, which is the default assumption for most in the conflict. It's worth remembering that this video may be some peoples' introduction to the channel and they are here because they know very little about the conflict. Preston can't presume much audience knowledge and has to make the content informative, accurate, and consumable to a broad audience. From those of us who are paid up Substack subscribers, to people put here by the algorithm and autoplay because they watched a video while searching to see if their old pager might explode. I am not trying to dog you, and I am sure they are very good people in a normal sense, but have you ever talked with them about Israel, US policy in the Middle East, 9/11, or any other hot button topics? I can almost guarantee you they would wildly different takes on such things. All politics are personal.

@@MM22966 Absolutely no offense taken. That is a fair question. Those who I have come to know are middle-class, blue-collar workers. I think you would have to agree that so very rarely does politics find itself bringing people together! My opinion of the United States holds no real weight, and those who are from the countries I have mentioned, also have no political influence in their former countries… there would be nothing to be gained by inquiring of their political views. i’ve inquired only as to what their lifestyles were like in their former countries. Some mentioned similarities, while others mentioned how much happier they were here in the US.
