Carolyn’s son indicated that she had said something about being scared by someone she worked with-perhaps pointing to Tommy, as we saw in this episode that he confronted Carolyn about a statement she seemingly made about not wanting to work with him. It seems like the show is trying slightly suggest a few different options though.

It’s not Tommy. He lacks courage and it takes courage to murder. Tommy’s just hurt, angry, a bit immature, and quite confused. A lot of these lawyers will be disbarred. They’re crooked!

I agree. I think something will throw the trial off, he’ll go free. The actors said during promo interviews that they didn‘t know who the killer was either. So maybe we won’t get to see definitive proof and we’re left to draw our own conclusions. I hope that’s not the case but sometimes writers think they are so clever and won‘t tie it all up for the audience. They want us to do the guess work.

Rusty has lost the plot 😅. Im wondering now if the night is a bit blurry as it looked like he drank way more than he let on and all the flashback scenarios are him doubting his own innocence and trying to fill the gaps where he was blacked out? I still don’t think he did it. Tommy still makes the most sense to me as the murderer but they made him so obviously suspicious in this episode that maybe his misdeeds only stretch as far as him creeping Carolyn out and being willing to do anything to put rusty behind bars including planting evidence… I definitely think clif is in cahoots with the prosecution. My girl barb can’t catch a break!

The obvious Tommy red herring in this episode coupled with Barbara's line about her being confident Rusty didn't do it makes me 95% sure it was Barbara.

But why was Rusty cleaning the sterling wheel in his car on episode one?

Barbara closes her eyes first the night before the trial. She’s able to rest easy because she knows the outcome.

Have been convinced it was Tommy from episode 1 but this episode almost tried to make it obvious that it was him, felt like a misdirection. Definitely less confident now.

Could be one of those shows where we find out who it is before it actually ends and the next few episodes are about seeing how rusty gets out of it

I think Rusty did it too. I think he’s going to get acquitted though, and we find out after that he got away with it.

Her covering up the DNA could be chalked up to them having a pretty strong case for their initial 1 suspect and that would have made it more complicated to win their case at the time. Could also mean it’s more important since that old guy has had a lot of screen time, but they’re throwing a lot of misdirection out.

Rusty's lawyer is going to have a heart attack or something which threatens to derail the proceedings. Rusty defends himself! Or the young assistant does but Rusty is heavily involved. All the other soap opera stuff is just misdirection. Rusty did it.

Was Rustys cheating scenes also 'disgusting to watch'? Considering she kissed him but Rusty kept going back to sleep with another woman. Also remember its just a series and you're projecting

@@k-em4jp not projecting, just stating a fact, plus I never mentioned anything abt Rusty. Sure he cheated on his wife, does she think doing the same is a reasonable idea. Plus, u are a female, I'm sure u will do exactly like her to get even.

@@k-em4jp no one is projecting here, just stating a fact. Plus, nobody said what rusty did was good. Does the wife think cheating back will be a good idea, I think not. I mean, it's actually irritating to watch. So get ur feelings out of it. I'm sure this is sth u can do also seeing as u are a female defending her actions

I’m gonna categorize this show as just a soap opera whodunnit style. would any decent lawyer even consider putting the wife on the stand? that makes no sense. Hasn’t the woman suffered enough? Imagine the cross examination. It feels way too desperate and a bit all over the place. I’m hoping they tie it together in the end. Also the dialog isn’t great. It feels rushed. Trying to find any chemistry in the Sabich household is a struggle and there’s literally no one to care about. Does anyone even care about Carolyn? Only who killed her I’ve seen a few hoping a certain person did lol. I did post a theory in last weeks thread who I think did it and trash can scene has me more convinced. In short I think Rusty did it. I think he went back to her house using the bike and killed her using rope from his shed. I based this mostly on Rusty’s conflicting flashbacks during the night of her murder. First flashback she lets him in they kiss. Second flashback she’s surprised and scared to see him.

Interesting that Barbara was the first to close her eyes in bed the night before the trials starts. She already knows the outcome, so she’s able to rest easy.

I’m 50/50 between Tommy and Rusty. However, Nico also weirds me out. They haven’t alluded to him in any clear way, but Carolyn could have been scared of anyone at work. There is also the whole “she covered up dna evidence to convict that guy in jail” thing. Presumably, someone else was in on that and it wasn’t Rusty. Who had the most to lose if that came out during the election? Nico, Raymond, or Tommy. Side question: WHY did she cover up the DNA?

I think the same, he killed her then rusty came back and saw it (kyle still present) and tried to cover up the murder making it look like Bunny davis And since rusty was drunk then, he doesn't have a clear memory of what happened
