One big NOTE: You cannot play your original 3DS online if you're playing your emulator online using this because you're basically making the Pretendo Network think you're using your original console. So to those that asked me if they can dump this info from their backed up nand, don't especially if you sold your 3DS to someone.

I wonder how hard it would be to make the Steam Deck act like a consolized 3DS (running Citra) and using a USB C to HDMI adapter, and a capture card (internal or external, it doesn't matter).

Well I've shared a guide about how the DNA Duo works with dual screen emulation on the Steam Deck and technically with the Steam Decks great sleep mode, you can put it to sleep then come back later and play. I tested this feature a lot even when it came to testing how much battery the DNA Duo would consume while in sleep mode.

@@DNAMobileGaming You don’t need to do any of this to get the DNA Duo working for 3ds and Ds games, correct. But I think his question was more about capturing gameplay from a steam deck with the Duo attached for purposes of uploading said gameplay capture. That’s why I referred him to OBS because he can capture both screen’s gameplay with software that’s simple to install and get working on the Linux steam is uses. I feel like if you did a few videos specifically on using the Deck with Duo on using: Windows on deck ( you could even as cart it bc you wouldn’t be using the build long), Lossless scaling to get 120 fps gameplay( using a micro hdmi of course not the C cable), and using OBS to capture gameplay from both the duo deck screen for content creation purposes. You could probably deeply intrigue a lot more deck users to purchase the duo and join the dmg clan( I’ve preordered and am excited!). Just a suggestion tho and also Happy Birthday!!

Well RetroDeck is just a tool to help setup emulators and folders so not really sure what that will so do for the 3 major emulators?

I’m having an issue where Citra crashes when trying to load something on the steam deck. It was working fine before, but I think this is a shader cache issue. Have you seen this issue? Do you know how to solve it?

Does it happen when you load every game? Are you loading your games through the home menu or just via the emulator? Could be a shader issue but I've yet to have any crashes even with this version so it must be something you did or changed perhaps. Check your video settings, are they set to the right GPU? Did you switch the GPU?

I think the window scaling issue has something to do with KDE Plasma 5, but otherwise sweet tutorial, definitely gonna be doing this on my deck!

That program is annoying I had to manually delete the cache data because I kept getting errors. You can configure the output of the display though through Display Settings when the DNA Duo is attached to the Steam Deck. The multiplayer experience for Mario Kart has actually been really good, and I will be looking into more about this soon.

@DNAMobileGaming the desktop environment on the steam deck has been my least favorite part about using the entire OS, since I daily drive Linux I get to use other options and the next version is beautiful, hopefully we can see an update in the future

Is there any way to retrieve the ctcert file from a firmware dump? I sold my 3ds a while ago but made sure to get a complete firmware dump from Godmode 9 first

No, also, even if there was, don't! You'll both get kicked offline if you were both online at the same time.
