My wife and I refinish furniture with this look but we have a huge dresser in our bedroom that we did with Old White and then just left it that way with no distressing. Pair it with black hardware and stain the top of a piece with a dark color and then clear coat (and then buff like crazy) the top for a really clean look without the "haze" of wax. It will be unprotected though so having it on a high traffic piece will mean you'll have to do touch ups

I am following this method but my piece looks a bit splotchy in the middle. What am I doing wrong? Also...my steel wool is shedding and tiny little fibers are getting into my brushes and the wax. Eek!! I bought exactly what you said you use. What the heck.
@ChristinaMuscari7 жыл бұрын
+Jessica Wilson The steel wool will wipe off when you gently wipe your piece with the lint free cloth. Use a lighter hand with your dark wax if you think it looks splotchy. Or you can cut it with more clear wax. You can also take clear wax over the splotchy part and it will lift some of the dark wax. It sometimes takes a bit a playing around to get it where you want. Good luck.
