I also like the grunge prints. with as much different paint as you have on the plate I am surprised at how much of the white comes through on the first print. can't wait to see your projects.

Cannot wait to try this! I think I might take the pulls from the smaller plates as I go, to get pieces of colour coordinated paper to go with the big prints... yes, I am that stingy with my beloved Ranger and Liquitex paints... thank you so much for sharing!

Absolutely brilliant. I'd seen the wonderful Robyn McClendon do this technique on her channel, but I didn't quite understand how it worked, with the drying between layers etc, but you've made this really straight forward. Now I'm going to have a go at it. Looking forward to part 2.

Thank you for that :-) I haven't come across Robyn McClendon before but I'm going to check it out! I picked up so many tips and techniques from the rest of the Gel Press team

I love the effect you have achieved .... thanks for sharing the tip about using a second gel plate for rolling out the paint, just a brilliant idea! I've managed to create a couple of prints that I am happy with using this technique.

What a great technique! I tried it, but it didn’t work like yours did. Perhaps it’s because I became a little impatient and used my heat gun a couple of times. Anyway, after applying the titan buff and pulling the print, very little came off the plate. I applied more titan buff and tried again. No. So I applied some hand sanitizer as that takes the paint of the gel press plate. Voila! I pulled 4 prints using the hand sanitizer each time. All prints are so different!! I’ll try this again! Thanks.

Hi, Kathy! We love your spirit of creative play!! However we don't recommend using a heat tool. The #1 ingredient in the plate is hypoallergenic baby OIL - and oil and heat shouldn't be mixed. Especially if your heat tool is the paint stripper type - please craft safely. :) But that said, putting a couple of drops of baby oil on the surface and spreading it out, might give you better release for the next attempt. It is like giving the plate a spa treatment. Looking forward to seeing your prints on our Facebook Group: facebook.com/groups/1833561140204118/

Gel Press thanks for your reply and for your information on the plate. I will try the baby oil next time. Oh, and my heat tool is a craft heat gun so no worries!
@gailallen30356 жыл бұрын
Would you recommend using baby oil as a general rule for this technique? I had watched another video and tried to do it without success. But, it wasn't explained in the other video to let each layer dry. Also, I don't have a lot of the better quality paints yet and am using some craft paints with Golden paints, although not the open type. Does this technique work better with open paints?

Did you dry the paint between each layerof color?
@thekathrynwheel7 жыл бұрын
I let it dry, otherwise it blends into one colour as you add each layer. It depends where in the world you live - I live in a cool damp climate and things take ages to dry, but when I demoed recently at Creativation in Phoenix the paint was drying so fast!

The larger gelli plates are really expensive ! 😥
@KaileyB6167 жыл бұрын
Alison Jones you can make your own, any size, for pretty cheap. Just look up “DIY gelli plate” on KZbin or Google.

Make your own don't work for dry pickup techniques, alcohol inks nor oil pigment sticks. AND our 12x12 is on sale!

@junecleary44495 жыл бұрын
Wow! Are all the paints dry in between layering and then the last layer is wet?
@GelPress5 жыл бұрын
Exactly! Gel Press is engineered to release the media. The last thin layer of paint picks up what is on the plate and adheres it to your paper. This is how we do alcohol ink printing as well.
@junecleary44495 жыл бұрын
@@GelPress Thanks. Got a heap of visible image stamps recently and a couple of gel presses and found you. Voila!
