That is actually true, and based in biology. Women can choose everyone they want. Men can not. A man's biological imperative is "If you ever have occasion to have sex, take the opportunity, as chances of you having it again, any time soon, will be far and wide between." That is why women only want to date a 10, and men will date anyone 5 and up.

As to pretty-privilege, there's a good saying going around that goes like "There are two memorable moments in a woman's life. The first is when she realizes her looks can get her things she doesn't really deserve; and the other is, when she realizes this is no longer the case."

I worked for a company that sold outdoor equipment like tents, backpacks, and camping gear. Our company owner told the manager at the time to forgo hiring people based on experience or knowledge but instead to focus on the looks and specifically to focus on hiring young, attractive, women. His justification was that while knowledge of products is good, the main selling point will be from who is selling you the product. He told the manager that as long as we keep one person on staff a day who does know the ins and outs of the technical side of the products then the rest of the staff should be attractive women.

I'm a tall man, and I actually think that being tall is more of an advantage overall than looking generally attractive as a man, unless maybe you are a 10/10 looks wise. My reason for it is this. When I stand face to face with people for conversations, in order for them to look me in the eye, most people have to look upward slightly (or a lot). I think that the physical posture of looking upward directly translates to a slight psychological advantage of psychologically looking up to me slightly more than they would otherwise. I think that we naturally give more respect and deference to tall men, and we are more likely to listen to their opinions. I think the effect is relatively small, but over time the benefit can be massive, especially when it comes to things like advancing your career. People naturally see you a better leader just because your tall. I'm probably about a 6.5/10 or 7/10 looks-wise, just enough to get some attention from women, but not a lot. I feel like I experience something like pretty privilege because of my height. Edit: I believe that this respect effect from height applies to how both men and women interact with me. I've noticed that when I'm speaking with another tall man vs a shorter one, I feel a slight difference in the level of respect I feel toward the tall one.

From my observations, the largest group which benefits are something like top 40% of most attractive women. The prettier a woman, the more privilege she gets, but that's nothing compared to top 0 point something percent men. Those guys are basically born to get everything they want and no girl would ever be on that level. I met such a guy once, he was my cousin's (aged 24) boyfriend. They broke up, because somehow she found out that he simultaneously was in a relationship with another girl, held several friends with benefits relations and from his tinder account had several one night stand intercourses. Apart from that, his girlfriends and friends were giving him money during those relations. Shortly after break up (from his facebook account) he found another girlfriend, who was financially supporting him

As a man, when I was in dating, I would rarely try to get a very pretty woman. I would always feel “She is out of my league, men are always after her, she would appreciate nothing, even if I got her I would have to compete with many men, it would probably be impossible to keep her”. I would only do so if she showed some interest in me, which did happen on occasion. In such cases, I did not turn her down if she had a nice personality. But life can surprise you. On one of the times I gave a very pretty woman a modest gift for her birthday, I could barely believe how much it meant to her. Go figure.

The concept of pretty priviledge is a term that is very "problematic" for people who consider themselves to be extremely progressive. Even whispering such a thing in the west could get you cancelled beacuse modernists want a society where everyone is equally beautiful, and every body is "perfect". However, men simply aren't wired that way. Men approach dating from a logical and aesthetic point of view, marrying a beautiful young woman would most likely give you beautiful healthy children (at least that is how men see it). Which is why no matter how accomplished, accredited, or rich a woman in her early forties is, a man will nearly always pick, a pretty 20 something barrista over her, because of her youth and (perceived) fertility window. No matter how progressive and egelatarian we try to make modern society; old fashioned biology wins out 10 out of 10 times, at least when it comes to men. Great video by the way, thanks for stimulating thoughtful conversation on this topic 🙂.

its tbeen researched that attractive men benefit more and it might have even been established that unattractive men lose more. women definetly treat unattractive men far worse than men treat unattractive women when it comes to dating. worst a guy is gonna do is laugh at her and call her fat, worst a woman will do is insist him even talking to her is a(literal) crime of some sort. the thing unattractive women complain about is the lack of special treatment(ex. receptionists not making small talk, lack of freebies) while unattractive men are constantly treated with a lot more suspicion and hostility than attractive ones.
@Sirrehpotsirch14 күн бұрын
Well, The "attractiveness bar" is just different for men than for women, not higher or lower. Just different. For example, an physically attractive (a 10) man can get away with more than a less physically attractive (6) man - at first. But as soon as a man's other attributes are known, his actual attractiveness level can move quite quickly. Men can capitalize on their other attributes better for in-person introductions. Dating apps are bad for men.

I wouldn't say it is the most unearned or unfair. Having the privilege of your parents being rich, or having good parents, or being intelligent, or healthy etc can all be just as un earned. You can definitely improve many of those things and make the most of what you have, but that goes for physical attractiveness too. But I wouldn't bother applying concepts like "fair" or "earned" to nature. "Attractive" is our evolution detecting whether someone has good genetic and developmental health, which is why people will favour better looking people. We have evolved to do so. Being attractive means you have developed proportionately due to good genes, good nutrition, good lifestyle and a lack of disease. already two errors in this video after 13 seconds. actual definition of beauty: the quality of being pleasing and attractive, especially to look at. "unearned societal privilege" meanwhile all the good-looking guys you use as examples in this video had to work their as off to get that muscular/ attractive, same goes for most women the rest of the video is good research

🤔When it comes to Brad Pitt vs Angelino Jolie I prefer Angelina over Brad, because he f'd up their marriage by physically abusing his family because of substance abuse to the point that his children abandoned the Pitt name.

You can be extremely attractive as a man and no one will give a shit. You might get laid a little more, but that’s about it.
