THE END of the learning curve you say? I'm a 08 baby and I'm still unsure of a lot of the game lmfao. That learning curve is never ending fam. But that's exactly why eve online is hands down the best mmo to exist. There is literally no end game, yet the whole thing is end game all in one. There are so many skill points to learn that even if you started Skilling at launch day that you still wouldnt have all of the skills unless you paid for them. What this guy did, pshh, it was nothing. Well it was significant and changed the entire power dynamic of the alliance's, but it's all good fun lmfao. When you get like, 2 months into the game it literally pays for itself. And with the new hypernet they have, I watched one dude drop 110 million isk on a large skill injector and win, and kept using his winnings to win more things, he was up to 45 billion in winnings, in a week. That is close to 500$ USD lmao!!!

This is a common misconception about EVE. Actually one thing a lot EVE players do, is play other games. All you do is que up a few weeks/months worth of Training when you want to take a break, when you come back you have "leveled up". Imagine lvling up like in WoW or a typical MMO without playing.

There's only one problem with this behavior, you can train for years and put your character in a titan (the biggest ship class in the game) without undock from a station and stay offline all the time... but in this way you know nothing about the game, you'll learn nothing about the gameplay, about the ship, how it work and how to use it... so you're basically dead on the undock :) No way, Eve requires effort and commitment, this does not mean you can't have a social life or sometimes play something else, but it's a game very intense that require effort if you want to play in null sec with a big alliance, because big corps and alliances have some standards, have specific doctrines, require some kind of behavior and experience. You can be a casual player also in Eve, but you must play in solo in Hi-sec or with a small corp, but that's an entirely different game compared to the Eve online described in the video. PS: I'm a CO2 player which lived all this drama :)
@alganhar17 жыл бұрын
Sometimes play something else? Hell, I am often platooning or Divisioning up with Alliance mates in World of tanks or world of Warships while on TS if there is no roam or fleet out... or partnering with some of them on Path of Exile.... Hell, many of the guys in my Corp and Alliance know my wife, at least to speak to, and she does not play the game. But I count myself a casual player despite the fact I am in a null sec alliance and PVP regularly, in fact most days I am online. I am a notoriously lazy ISK maker so tend to PLEX for the ISK I need for ships... because guh, ratting FUCKING SUCKS! Enough said there! Point is you can be successful in null as a fairly casual player in the right corp with one important Caveat.... Get involved. Even if you suck. Doesnt take long to get into an Interceptor if you Omega, my preference these days is three burst Command ships, I actually enjoy the on grid CS play, so 3 burst CS running navy mindlinks with maxed out leadership. Good luck guessing which Sliep is running the Primary bursts because they are *all* running at least one if only to cover which is the Primary burst... which is good as you lose a rig slot so some tank! :P And no, wont be giving you the name of my Main :)

I started out in a good corp with a great CEO. We were a mining/research/building corp, who supplied various other corps with ships, parts, weapons, and ammunition. After playing for two years, the CEO guy was starting a new RL job and had less time to run the corp. So, he eventually passed the mantle to a mutual friend (who was not a founding member). She has OCD, is a control freak, and ran the corp with an Iron Fist. Every little thing had to be accounted for: every mineral use, all research, use of money from the corp wallet had to be okayed by her and if the reason wasn't good enough, she denied it. I was head of Production. I scheduled the mining ops and did the research jobs. I had paid for the PoS and its components. After about a month of this control, I had had enough. I took the PoS down and stopped scheduling mining ops. Production came to a screeching halt. She screamed and ranted. Made all kinds of threats. But there was really nothing she could do. I left the corp and joined one of the competitor corps. I still own 10% stock in that first corp though...

Sad part is we ended up kicking their arse and re-gained control of our wormhole but still several years of assets gone poof and the desire to rebuild gone because it was happening more and more. Large groups wiping mom and pop guilds or ransoming them on a weekly/monthly basis. That or join the Zerg and have to live like your an employee for a Wal Mart Sweat shop. Or live in empire and run missions tog et suicide ganked over and over or salvage rats stealing your stuff while you finish the mission. Miner bumpers extorting solo miner players for "Mining License fees" Don't buy the license you get suicide ganked and followed around every day. So long as the leader makes sure to NEVER give anyone else full and/or near full authority, just like themselves, then they can make sure everything is safely regulated, so that SHOULD someone betray them, (which as you correctly pointed out, should not happen if they are treated well, and the industry is taken care of, unless... they are sleeper agents) then that person would be able to inflict little to none damage to said organization.

@fangzea7 жыл бұрын
EVE is a single evolving game, their will never be an EVE 2. You are better off going after games like Star Citizen then to wait for a different version of EVE. The reason why is because the games original creators all jumped ship after the corporation CCP that owns EVE was bought by investment firms and is no longer ran by the original team. The game is dying slowly with the current team just putting bandaids on it.
@KartoffelKonig7 жыл бұрын
So that means there are no more content updates being made and what you have is the final form of the game? The only thing that can change is between these parameters and what people do with it hmm. Maybe I will wait for Star Citizen then.
@fangzea7 жыл бұрын
Yes, the game will not expand like it was originally planned to. The Dust514 and other games that are suppose to be cross platform are all but dropped. None of it really effects EVE in any way. The CCP team is changing in game content to try and balance it more but from my experience it does nothing to bring in more players as the game model is about constant conflict and loss. A great many people do not like the idea of losing everything in one night. The time it takes to achieve a carrier in game will either cost a couple of years of playing the game or a couple hundred in cash. So many will not bother playing that long and people tend to drop the game after a couple of months. After 12 years of playing I can say The vast majority of people who continue to play are old vets with 5 or so years. Die hard fans are what keeps it alive.

All things considered, this is actually quite the infomrative video! That being said, as an EVE player for 12 years, I feel the need to....address some of the less-than-accurate, or misleading, information found here. 1:15 - 99% of EVE players didn't give a shit about the "weeb war." In other words, this wasn't a war. If anything, it was a skirmish between scrubs over trivial and inconsequential matters. And it lasted maybe...a week? Not even worth mentioning. 2:20 - The relationship between CO2 and Imperium: while it is true many Imperium members felt betrayed that CO2 abandoned their relationship with the Imperium and the adjacent space CO2 occupied next to the Imperium (thus opening up a path for outsiders to invade the), it is equally true that CO2 manned the front lines without assistance from the Imperium despite repeated requests to the Imperium for help. 3:10 - no one got "booted" out of citadels. In fact, the breaking headlines shortly after Judge flipped citadels was how many CO2 members were trapped INSIDE of them because the second they decide to leave, they would be shot by the hundreds of Imperium/TEST pilots camping those stations. These CO2 players also had lots of possessions trapped inside these citadels and many remain stuck to this day. It's what many refer to as the "Hellcamp," and can be seen here: massivelyop . com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/evehellcampb-860x280.png 3:50 - CO2 is not dead yet, although....OK, they probably have a defibrillator on their proverbial chest 7:30 - it's HIGHLY unlikely CCP will unban Gigx. He has a reputation for a flaring temper, and has had similar issues with CCP in the past. Most of all, CCP takes doxing/abuse/harassment very seriously. Also, Gigx never threatened to cut off hands. That was a sensationalized title for a pcgamer article. If you actually read the article, you would know this is patently false (although seeing his words as "threatening" definitely qualify). Also, good on you for mentioning the mechanic that allows them get their items out for a "fee," known as Asset Safety. You might be surprised how many EVE players (and even CO2 members) didn't know about this.

I have myself held a faction of 24-25 thousands of people with around 2-4 thousand being active every day. It is quite crazy if I'm going to be honest but it's nothing more than normal politics and keeping the morale of the people up and running. Just get yourself like 5-6 generals who control 20-30 officers who in their turn control 100-500 sergeants who control the rest of the group. That way you're not doing the entire heavy lifting yourself and have others who take controll of it for you.

There isn't really a need to know much when it's about EVE 'scandals' - it's always some guy in a position of trust who f***s over a whole bunch of people. The end. Just the number of people who get f**** over varies depending on the size of the organisation being f***** over, and the position of the guy who did it. The conversations that come up about it is normally more interesting than the actual event. Imagine a corporate asset theft, where the theft is accomplished by somebody with signing rights to all of the companies assets. They sign the stuff over to themselves/others, and disappear. Yes, it's about as exciting as it sounds. In the real world, they have to cover their tracks well of course, in EVE they just carry on doing whatever they want because there are no real serious repercussions, and everybody is immortal.

My main beef with the company though is I played the joined game Dust 514 for like two or three years. IT wasn't a great game but I liked the idea and it was a very different take on a FPS. The game was in beta for like a year, went live despite being still broken with like two maps and one game mode. Struggled for something like the last year and then was shut down with little to no warning. Where they still sold the in game micro transaction boost and such pretty much up till the day it shut down. It was a horribly managed affair that never did half the stuff it promised. It made No Man's Sky look honest in comparison.

So many misunderstanding of the game in the comment section... The video did not properly explained that it is absolutely *allowed* to scam and steal from people in this game. It is expected that you will lookout for yourself in every way you can, because nobody else will. What is not allowed is making IRL threats. All conflicts must stay within the boundaries of the designed in-game mechanics. That's why GigX, the leader of CO2 was banned by CCP for his comments. Now the second thing, The Judge was not banned for the simple reason that, as mentioned above, what he as done is allowed and within the boundaries of the designed in-game mechanics. Some people blame the devs for designing the game in such a way that someone is even able to do that, to be able to ruin the game experience for thousands of players. Those people failed to understand the spirit of the game and what its goal is. It is expected that an alliance leadership will lookout for the security of its assets. CO2 failed to do that, as such, a lesson was learned that day, the hard way. Final thing about the legality of all this. The Judge did *not* steal 13000$ to GigX, he stole 1300 billions of in-game currency called Interstellar Kredit (isk) to GigX's organisation.The distinction is important for many reasons, but for starters: 1. ISK has no inherent value as it can only be used in a video game. You can convert RL Dollars to isk, which give us an exchange rate and a way to calculate IRL dollars value, but you *cannot* legally convert isk to IRL dollars. Therefore it is not IRL currency and does not fall under banking laws. Getting a lawyer on this is absolutely pointless. What The Judge has done is not a crime by any real-life law. 2. No player legally own anything in the damn game to start with, CCP does. That 13000$ is in CCP's pocket. As far as legality goes, nobody stole from nobody here. There is nothing to see.

It wasn't a scam, but a betrayal. A scam is an elaborate plan to screw over a stranger to get their money, this was a case of 'let me take everything we have all worked for and fuck over everyone else that took part in making to happen' - betrayals take no effort, no real planning, no capacity for subterfuge, it only take a decision to fuck everyone over, and then enacting that decision whenever prudent.

For those that are confused here is what happened in text + some extra bits*... Circle of Two (CO2) were a group of about 4K players that had lots of in-game space money. Their leader, gigX was fairly brutal in his commands/orders and although they were somewhat effective most people didn't like him. A CO2 diplomat, The Judge, quoted that he didn't like the way he was treated by gigX later on. He had access to practically the whole of CO2s assets, which is thought to have equated to about +1trillion ISK (over 10k US dollars). The Judge stole some of this for himself and sold the rest of it to a rival of CO2, Goonswarm. After this gigX threatened to cut The Judges' hands off and then he got banned. CO2 is extremely unlikely to come back from this as all their assets are in a Keepstar (A very big and very expensive space station) and they can't/will struggle to get them out. However, it is still possible, just extremely unlikely. The EVE community is showing some empathy to CO2 members as billions and possibly trillions of their private assets are locked away for a while unless they pay a fee to get them released. Goonswarm show no signs of changing ownership of these space stations due to the fact that they aren't short on in game money. *This is what happened to the best of my knowledge which is mainly from within EVE, I am not in either of these alliances so I don't know what exactly happened. This is what I have learned from in-game chat and the EVE subreddit. Thanks for reading and if you have any questions feel free to comment and I will try to answer them to the best of my ability.

"a large group of russians" had fought a war to control a large section of space and all the gates leading to it. They had taken advantage of squabblings between their western neighbours and their advantage of no one being on due to their time zones to completely engulf almost all of previously held corporate territory. And this final move was all started due to a russian infiltrator who was like 5th in command in one of the large corporations, betrayed them by leading a massive trade convoy into an ambush. This lead to the loss of massive ships and huge amounts of money between two massive corporations and the russians just moved in and swept up the crumbs. People were calling for the devs to do something. The devs were like: sucks to be you.

I am going to try to explain this to non-EvE players This is how EvE is, has been, and always will be. Bigger hiests have happened. Eve is complex. The politics is strange. Yes, politics. Several "Corporations" (I.E player owned Nation states) are around. They are competing for power and resources. There has been wars, spying, sabotage. The heist this guy did is against the douchebags of the game. I say The Judge took those pricks down a notch. In Eve EVERYTHING is fair game. There are little to no rules in EvE. It was years ago, but should be easy enough to find with a search. They essentially pushed out a patch that installed itself to the root of the users C drive and installed itself over the operating system, or something to that effect. Edit: Was back around 2007 and affected windows xp machines. Some idiot on the dev team put a backslash in the wrong place and when you installed the patch it ate your computers boot.ini file at the root of the C drive. Replacing it with it's own file, which was foolishly also labeled boot.ini.

I don't play Eve, but it actually pisses me off that the developers banned the victim for a totally understandable show of emotion, and have apparently not punished the real culprit. Wow. How is it even possible for one guy -- who isn't even the group leader -- to give away all of a faction's space stations? That's ridiculous. Nobody should have that kind of power in-game, surely. Sounds like a major design flaw.

CCP is a toxic company.
@angelrivera23397 жыл бұрын
If this guy carries out this threat, then the company could be sued if they did nothing about it. The game universe exists with its own rules, then there is the real world. the Judge stole the money, but it is game money. The guy that you are feeling bad about threatened to cut the judge's hands and asked people for the home address of the Judge. that is the real world and CCP could be held liable if the judge is harmed by this guy if they don't do anything to show that they take the safety of the costumers seriously. They banned him for crossing the line into the real world. he could have threatened to hunt down the Judge across the in-game universe and he would not have been banned.
@danielgray13947 жыл бұрын
Thing is, the Judge can suffer retribution in-game (unlikely though considering the scope of wealth/power, just like real life) by in game mechanisms, governments, policing, etc. It is when these matter leave the game or violate the ToS that bans and account action is taken.

So the game with only 30k players just lost 4k players more? How many players in that corporation do you think will return when they have to start from scratch? "Very, very few", is a safe estimate. This is endemic of the games flawed core mechanics. These guys were obliterated to the point of not recovering for years, if they really even bothered to try. This is not a healthy pattern. This leads to EVE losing huge chunks of veteran players with every coup, while fewer and fewer players and corporations are leftover every time. One corporation left standing is the only way this goes. It's like some sad darwinistic experiment instead of a game, that mirrors the pattern of real life a little too closely. "Humans will keep killing each other until only one remains, the strongest among you. A thousand years from now, a dimwitted, human barbarian will climb to the top of a pile of bones, sit down, and proclaim, "I win." - Iorveth, The Witcher 2 EVE's game world lit its' own fuse a long time ago, and the sadist devs keep blowing on it just to see the inevitable final explosion.
@CHURCHISAWESUM7 жыл бұрын
Most of them stuck around and were absorbed into other corporations. This is part of the null game and is tbh expected to happen once in a while. I've come back from worse wipes (wormhole space where there is no way to save or evac assets during eviction) three times without much of a problem. Skills and methods of making isk are the real value, not the ships themselves.

it happens in EVE over, and over, and over, and over. It's not because anyone's doing anything wrong, it's literally how the player structure works. The player 'corp' (guild) permissions system is built on you either having access to nothing or you have access to everything. And thats why you dont give one guy all the power... even more so when he has no incentive at all to stay honest.

I love EO stories, because it is like a real! The wars, the intrigue, the economy and just how everything is player run. It is amazing and I probably would read a book on the in game history of the game. Never played it and don't plan on it because I have heard it is pretty meh game and it's pay to win mainly but still an interesting concept.
