Windows 11. Right click on desktop hover over the word view. Left click on Show Hide desktop icons. Repeat to show it. Saved you the need to downloading shovelware

Just use a black background. Uses least energy and does never burn in

I went with the alienware because it seems like a great display and the warranty is hard to beat. I plan on abusing the **** out of it, but not recklessly. Will use the tools you suggested. Thanks again.

Yeah, but to show them up again you need to right click again and chose show desktop icons. With this program you just click and they show up and then they hide after time if there is no input. Far better imo.

@@cor.tenebrarum If it works for you that is cool, personally I like to keep mine free of apps like this, but I can see it being useful for some.

I ordered an Alienware Oled gaming monitor. Thanks for the advise. I will consider it and will use the automatic monitor shutdown in windows too. Sure with LCD Displays you dont have this issues, but the quality is worth it imo.

Love how everyone says how to 'minimise' burn in or 'help prevent' burn in. Unless you use it as a TV only burn in will happen over time due to the static menu nature of most programs even in games. Sure OLED looks lush BUT this problem is NOT going away anytime soon, so unless you intend to move your screen every year its simply not worth investing in the tech if ones main function is productivity. Thank you for the Autohide tip though that's a nice to have clean desktop anyway 👍

yeah I want to switch to oled but I use my monitor for IT 8 hours or more(not less) a day every 5 day, there are constant database gui, excel on screen. I can only game for 2-3 hours, I can't go two monitor either since I want my screen to be front of me so I don't like dual monitor setup. Was thinking minileds but I'm sure I will be annoyed by blooming. I'm stuck with 4k 60fps ips screen that I can't change.

I know it's a dilemma if productivity is the main goal and your use is rather heavy . But many reviewers have been using oleds for a few years with seemingly no negetive effects if you manage screen brightness, have dark modes on etc. But you should consider that there are other poss options like VA panels, midway IPS to Oled in blacks reproduction perhaps and still high refresh rates at 1440. Samsung Neo G9s etc. Not cheap options but sub oled costs. Maybe even consider a sep screen solely for gaming? . 1440 to 4k for mainly textin productivity is hardly perceivable with clear text tech running. It's really only in gaming and media you can tell a diff. Besides unless you have quite a beastly GPU it's very tough to run games in 4k (oled) . I only aim for 60ffs at 4k with my RTX 3080. So if you'd rather chase fps, 1440 screens should likely be your go to anyway. Fyi: I game/media on a 42" LG Oled and do work tasks on 3 x 24" TN screens. For work hi tech screens are fairly pointless.

What would you pick? A OLED display with Intel procesor I5? Or a LDD/IPO display with I7 procesor?

if your primarily using your pc for gaming then go for i5/OLED. if you primary use case is work/productivity then go for the i7/LDD

So if I use my PC just to look at a moving background I'm good to go right? 🫤 So basically, just don't actually use the computer. Okay cool.
