💯 brother. I'm in luxury at work with 2 new Junair booths 😂. Spoilt bitch that I am 😊. You're totally right with all you said man. I generally set the booths at around 98 Fahrenheit but whenever I have a pearl blend (or a light silver/or even chunky metallic blend) I have the booth as cool as I can for the base and then wind it up for the clear. When I paint at home, in the cold, I do exactly what you did there. Always have some Rocket (activator) dropped in the clear as well. Great, simple to follow video mate. Awesome work as usual brother 💪😎.

Great advice. I wish we had weather like y'all do in Florida. I'm in MS and our weather is crazy. I'm glad to find someone else that is using AM-tech clear. I use it off and on. How are you liking it and have you good results with it holding up to the sun. I was using Finish 1, but I found on mostly darker color jobs, if the car stayed out in the sun a lot that it would start dulling out and breaking down. I had a Sherwin Williams rep say that Finish 1 doesn't hold up well to UV rays. Now, I kinda deal with Am-Tech, Debeer, and SPI. I tried Grant 7 before, but it doesn't work well for a production shop. I like Debeer but it's around $400 for a set up.

Thanks man, I actually like the clear, I've been spraying it here at the shop for 11 years now. Cars come back to the shop that I have sprayed well over 5 years ago and the paint still looks fresh in Florida heat so it does hold up If it didn't I would have easily requested for the owner to switch brands. He pretty much lets me make the decision on what we use here at the shop they were already using it when I got here and it works so I don't complain much.

Spraying in cold weather...this is what i found out. Michigan cold, not Florida cold(which we call WARM) 😂😂fast dry clear and put that te 20 cap away until spring. I need thinner coats of fast drying clear...or suffer the consequences! I guess I could turn the fluid way down on the te 20, but the 110 greatly reduces my chance of the clear running right down the panel🥴 yeah. Had some good ones on that last job. Current job, smooth. Still staying faithful to that Peolite for clear. The way you know your clear by usung the same clear...I figure that can translate to using the same gun every time for predictable results
@thetriggerman954
@thetriggerman954 6 ай бұрын
Facts. Only thing I do different is I still use the TE20 I just go down to a 1.3 instead of the 1.4 but your way works just as well. Same destination just a different route.

62° 😂.. I painted in an unheated garage at 0 degrees, or less, outside, maybe negative 10.. All I had was a diesel forced air torpedo heater in the mechanic shop. Id run it to get it up to about 45. Shut it down wait 10-15 minutes for the air to settle, then spray, wait 5 minutes to flash off some before blowing a box fan out under the garage door, with cardboard to block off the rest of the bottom under the door; to get vacuum. After paint fumes dispersed turn on the heater again, with the intake just outside under the door so its pulling fresh air & not explosive fumes.. Fun times, doing body work at 38 degrees between running the heater on and off because you cant let it run too long due to fumes. Have to let fresh air in which at the same times makes it cold again.. Start over. One night i finally finished the clear at 4:00 am on my daily driver. What a struggle. I did a whole door off the car that night, turned out great. 426 silver metallic, looked great. I didnt paint the original oem handle & when installed you couldnt tell the difference. The biggest problem is the paint is so cold when spraying you have to heat it up..

Orange peel? What is this you speak of? 🤔😄😄😄 Gun settings and technique. Most importantly I've been spraying the same clear for 11 years now and just like anything the more time you use it the more familiar you get with it. If I went to a new shop today I would tell the owner to give me a week or so to get use to the materials. So it's basically find a good product you like and get to know that material. Seems like people now days chase spray guns instead of learning their material. Which is 100% incorrect

@@thetriggerman954 Like, what type of gun to use, how to spry paint over old paint, how many clear coats to apply, specially if you got Orange Peel and at how many psi. I used LVLP at 20 - 25 psi at my first attempt and managed to stuff up the job and a gun. On my second attempt i only had HVLP gun, sprayed 2 coats of paint and quickly sprayed in a zig-zag pattern to spread out the Metallic at 30 psi, the paint job came out pretty good. Clear Coat i used the same gun at same psi, sprayed 2 light coats and one heavy coat, only ended up with couple little runs and stuffed up half a passenger door. Strangely i could see my reflection pretty clearly with bit of orange peel that i can live with. Haven't seen the car for couple of days now but hope my masterpiece won't change much, will find out in the morning. Do you think i should wait a month or 2 before buffing and polishing? Cheers mate.

Might be freezing to you.. but thats not cold for the paint

It is cold for the paint if you don't use the correct materials. That's why there's cold temperature materials and there's hot temperature materials. That's why you're reducers and activators have recommended temperatures on them. You picked the wrong channel if you're trying to be a smart-ass.

I get them here and there. Man I swear if I get a run on a Friday and go home it's like it ruins my weekend 😭 I hate runs. I know everyone says that but I have a special hate for them. Lol But yes I do get them here and there. Just try to never have BS on your mind when you're going to clear coat. Become one with the panel 🧘🏽‍♂️

I don't have an ideal temp. I can make paint work inside of an igloo.

@@nickross2423 I understand that. But there are people that paint in colder weather that you. Same rules apply across the board. If it's cold move fast /If it's colder move FASTER. If it's cold use accelerator/ If it's colder MORE accelerator. Everything I said in this video applies to colder than normal temperatures and we all know what that is.
