I appreciate your videos so much. I recently was diagnosed with stage 3 kidney disease which had been making my normally very strong nails very fragile. A very good friend of mine got me to watch your videos and i bought the equipment and gel polish to do my own manicures. My nails are back to not falling apart due to her kindness and your lessons. Thank you very much.

Before I did my training, I bought a kiss kit from the chemist store. I just followed the instructions. After a couple of weeks I filled in the gap at the cuticle, I noticed that there was a patch of green, so I removed the acrylic to find a bigger patch of green. It took a while to grow out. It was then when I decided to train as a nail tech. I'm so glad I did, as I love doing nails, I'm also pleased I've found people sharing their knowledge & experience on KZbin. Thank you Suzie for your part in my learning process. 😊💅💖

I found green spots today doing my own nails :/ . So it's not a salon's fault which is what many people think. How to avoid this ? Should I remove all the products each 10 days and re-do my nails ? 2 weeks is too much time I suppose- anything can start growing!

Please, please always check for bubbles in your nails! Pseudomonas aeruginosa can cause systemic infections if left to penetrate into your circulatory system, which this pathogen is notorious for in hospitals. Escherechia coli and other Klebsiella spp. also love air bubbles in your nails and don’t leave green pigments behind, so don’t push your luck thinking having air bubbles in your nails is ok as long as it doesn’t go green.

I had a tech I went to ( not my usual ) and she tried to leave allll my lifted acrylic on my nail and tried to just put product on it. I look at her and was like whaaaat are you doing??? She was really confused and just looked at me. I told her she needs to remove the lifted product so I don’t get fungus or an infection. I was stunned a “ professional “ had to be told that.

@NailCareerEducation

Not really dangerous just gross and can weaken the natural nail plate. Even if it goes really far into the nailbed it will grow out eventually. Is not damaging the root of the nail being the matrix so it’s not a permanent issue

I'm so happ that she showed us this video to let us know that even though she's worked with nails for a very long time, even she isn't perfect and she still might damage the nails. Even then, it's not necessary the way you applied the product that might be the problem, it might just be that you snagged it on something and it's coming a bit loose. Your videos inspire me to keep trying, to keep working on the methods I find easiest to do my nails as well as to get better at it and to never give up. Keep up the good work and keep inspiring people❤️❤️❤️

I’m not a nail tech but I do my nails and I figured there were other aspiring techs who were curious about the nail care side of things and learning about stuff they’d might run into if they only worked independently, client to client (and probably unlicensed and learned online from videos like suzie’s) instead of in a salon. My nail tech almost always removes all the acrylic if I have any bubbles or cracks. I work with animals so I normally have to have at least 1 nail completely redone when I go in for a fill. I didn't realize how important it was that she remove so much of the acrylic until a coworker got an infected nail. I just tip her well and take the pain of her peeling off the acrylic. She'll file it if the break is near the edges, but if it's in the middle like yours she just uses a fake nail and clippers to remove it. 😬 Side note, ever since getting acrylic my natural nails have grown so long. They're normally very brittle, but it's so nice to say, yes, this is my natural nail. 😁

Suzie, I so appreciate all your videos and your way of educating. So informative and helpful. I am so tired of the nail technicians today being lazy or uninformed and leaving lifts and bubbles. I think you would probably have a heart attack if you saw my nails. Lol. Without being able to get a fill for my acrylic nails due to current circumstances, I took it upon myself to learn and purchase the products I need to begin doing my own nails. I haven’t actually filled them yet because I am so out of practice. I used to be a licensed Cosmetologist, not specializing in nails, but I learned how to do acrylic...eons ago. Anyway, my nails literally have rings of lifts like rings on a tree as the layers of the tree grows every year. You get the picture. I fear I will have to buff/file until I get to my natural nail and start over. Any thoughts or ideas would be welcomed and appreciated, like a lot!!

Hey Ms. Suzie, (and Camera Man) I shut my thumbnail in a drawer last year and my natural nail lifted, my nail tech said oh it's fine. Then proceeded to fill it as usual. It turned green and she still wanted to fill it! I'm in the medical field and my hands are always in water! Needless to say I quit going there and it took almost 4 months for my nail to heal correctly! I think it took so long because I allowed her to talk me into filling the first time. I take responsibility but she did say it would be okay and grow in. I guess some people's do grow under the acrylic but I wasn't one of those people.. probably because of my job. I just wish we had a good personally owned shop near me. All of the shops in my area are the "move them in, move them out" type! And there's one on every corner. I've been to 6 different places in the last 2 years! It's exhausting. I actually can do my own nails, one of my friends used to teach nails at the local technical School.. she showed me how to do them years ago and I started doing my own. But now I just don't like to do my own it takes me too long 😭. I guess I can't have my cake and eat it too LOL. I totally enjoy your videos and have learned a lot. The Nail Hub has a good video on this. You want to file behind the lifting, not on top of it. And from the unlifted part towards the lifted part (with a hand file, I'm too nervous with e-files). Then the lifted part falls off without filing your actual nail. That's where mine tend to lift too.

Thanks for the information. Very good video. Can you tell me if white spots on the nail is a fungus ? My sister had a pedicure and they did a french look on her toes. I can see white places on her toe nail because the polish is clear I mentioned it to her and she said the nail tech said don't worry about it. I was always told if you have a fungus don't polish the nails because it will contaminate the bottle of polish and spread to other people. I was told this 20 years ago so it might be different now. I wasn't sure if white spots could be fungus or if it's only a problem if it's green. Just wondering because I would not want to contaminate my polishes I would have politely asked her to wait until the spots were gone or asked her to purchase her own polish .

I think if you would have done anything to that nail, and something negative happened, it would have come back on you. You did the right thing. If I would hve been your client, I would have appreciated your honesty.

The same thing happened to me a few years ago. My natural nail lifted off of my nail bed almost all the way. My nail tech shortened the nail all the way so the nail moves as little as possible and then filled it with gel as opposed to removing the gel completely. I found that the layer of gel kept my nail in place and that it healed better that way. So whenever i went for fills she filled my nail regurarly and the lifted nail she just filled with a layer of gel. I know this wouldnt work for everyone but my nail situation was a bit extreme. It grew out in about 5 months

I would let her glue on a press-on nail... maybe even suggest the temporary type with less strong glue. Part of being a nail tech is protecting the health of your clients. Also, if it goes bad, she will only have herself to blame, not blame you. Sometimes looking someone in the eye and speaking with authority on your subject of expertise is the best gift you can give. :)

Thanks for your video! I was wondering if I need to worry about greenies with jelly tips? Since I add a base coat of builder gel before putting the jelly tip on are my nails protected or do I still need to worry about bubbles?

This was an amazing video thank you so much. I would very much love it if you would do a video explaining why the products on wish so cheap and what they can do to you. That scaly dermatitis is real and that these products probably aren't worth it

I have a question: does nail glue (for full cover falsies) damage your nails? I've heard different things, so now I'm not sure.

Hi Suzy, I've enjoyed following you for years now. I looked you up to see what you had to say on treating greenie nails. I get the reason for fixing a bubble and why. But... What is the first product you world use to remove "greenie" from your nail? Can you apply a treatment that STOPS the greenie immediately so reapplying a gel base coat is safe then continuing with a hard gel nail application. (My nails) Thank you for you help.

Thank you! I’ve been doing my own nails for years. I’ve never had a greenie, but I have had bubbles. I’m excited to know the “ best” way to handle its removal. Thank you for all your help. You’re the best👍🏻

I'm hooked and binge watching everything!! I can't wait till the small starter kit comes back out for your NCE beginner kit. If I don't want super long nails because I work with like people, can I just use acrilic powder and monomer, because I have really thin nails? Thanks!!

I bent my gel nail backwards and bruised my nail bed. A few days later the gel nail popped off and took a good thick layer of my natural nail from the point where it bent to the fray edge. I want to leave it alone, until the bruised area grows out, but the damaged nail is so thin and fragile I want to protect it somehow. Would a layer of transparent base coat gel be ok? Or even just colourless nail polish?

Had the same thing happen to me last week. My nails are natural. A jar fell off my pantry and took off part of my nail all the way to the hyponychium and bruised the other side. My hyponychium is so bruised and yucky looking right now.

I’ve seen these air bubbles in the center on a few other channels before. Could this possibly be from pinching the nail during the acrylic application??

Yes, it could be. Pinching is a real problem if not done correctly- requires lots of experience to pull that off correctly
