I think the biggest factor in people getting their bike stolen is surprisingly a lot of people keep their key fob on the bike

Great points and yes theft at Daytona is huge Rotor Lock is fantastic, Also changing your code for the ECM only you should know what it is people cant start it and the bike is useless ECM, Many times its the Big Wheels that get taken too!

Checking your policy is a good thing. Bike covers are a good idea. I was on vacation with my wife and I got a ATV cover for my Ural sidecar motorcycle. Where we were staying there were allot of kids. The cover kept them from climbing on my rig. Urals are magnets for people and I’ve had a couple of instances where I’ve come out of a store and people were sitting in my rig. One time a drunk girl was sitting in my rig and when I approached she said,”Is this your bike?” I said,” Yep”. She then said,”I’m not wearing any panties.” I said,”That’s nice, could you please get off my bike!” I’m a happily married man and I have enough B.S. in my life. Not only is theft a problem but there’s more chance of knuckheads messin’ with your stuff. Too many people out there who never got lumps for their stupid actions.

I find having a kill switch in a hidden spot helps, also buy a tempered chain and lock and wrap it around a post in case they want to throw it on a pick up truck

Back in 98 a few of my buddies and I where there at Hooters maybe for an hour, the thieves pick the bike up and loaded on a pickup truck and off they went. And this was a custom bike.

I've heard similar stories like that. Especially with custom bikes and high value bikes like a Hayabusa.

Rotor lock works best on the rear wheel
@RidingandWrenching9 ай бұрын
Really? Why do you say that?
@andrewschultz25049 ай бұрын
@@RidingandWrenching the front wheel is easy to take off. It takes no time at all so if you have a rotor lock on the front wheel, someone can just take your front wheel off. Taking off the rear wheel is more difficult.

I use a lot of these items with one exception. I have no interest in an Apple tag or LoJack because IF they get my bike I’d rather not get it back. Nothing is irreplaceable and I’d rather not get a half stripped bike back or one whose ignition system has been ripped out

Which GPS tracker do you use?

How is it a deterrence? Do potential thieves somehow know your bike has GPS Tracking and then they just skip over yours?? Do you have signage on the bike that tells potential thieves that the bike has GPS tracking?? Not sure how it actually deters. It surely can help in recovery though.

I have that same seat lock on my la pera my buddy also had one too we were out riding upstate New York and someone just hit it with a hammer or something and it snapped right off and stole his seat so it’s still technically easy to steal it happened super fast too. A lot of scumbags out there. Last year at Dayton a guy had his whole truck and trailer and bike stolen right at a hotel. Just be very cautious and careful people will be there for that reason alone just to steal bikes. I’m done with rallies and shows I stay away anymore I just like crushing miles doing little vacation here and there. Be safe brother

Cue I have GPS trackers very accurate ones, cost for a year coverage is about $103.00 I have them on all my 5 Harley’s, I also have AirTags on all of them, but when going to a rally I never take the bikes, I will drive my regular cars, I also put kill switches hidden on all the bikes, so it would be hard to take one of them, I will be getting the rotor locks next, retired law enforcement here, I did a few rally’s helping local law enforcement as sometimes a van or trailer with a few big guys the just pick up the bikes manually and load them and go, they part them out right away, then dump what they don’t want, for the thief’s the rally’s are a candy store for them, guys keep your bikes safe, hopefully you don’t end up being a victim, the insurance won’t give you what the bikes are really worth, so you loose twice,
