What a pleasure to hear again the music emitted by the V8 cosworth, the V12 Ferrari, Alfa, Matra... In those days cars remained cars and not soulless computers on wheels. The pilots didn't have all the current aids, they were pilots! You will tell me that the evolution cannot be delayed, no doubt, but I remain dubious in front of the current "prowess" of the pilots...

@rippsquad2 жыл бұрын
These kinds of comments just piss me off
@masterkamen3717 ай бұрын
Most driver aids have been banned ages ago. AFAIK the only real aid that's still around is anti-stall because it's a big pain restarting the engine (technically you can start it with the electric motors but that is avoided for various reasons). Modern cars are only more difficult to drive than before. The cars are much more sensitive so a tiny mistake could send you straight into the barrier. Much easier to lock up the brakes because they are driven to the absolute limit - the driver adjusts the brake bias throughout the lap so he can squeeze the most out of the brakes without locking up. The reason you see so few mistakes today is because the drivers are seriously talented. This is another point, some 40, 50 years ago many, if not most drivers were pay drivers without much of any talent. Today this is not possible, even the pay drivers have to prove their worth by scoring very high in other high end racing series. For a long time now even the teams themselves have been much better than in the past. In the 80s and early 90s you would see a number of terrible teams that only existed to milk sponsorship money. It's been years since any team wasn't able to qualify within 107% of the pole position time. Very impressive considering how fast the top cars are.

These are all the genuine article. Looks like the RF wheel came loose. Any high end race car require loads of attention to detail and careful prep, and a loose wheel is a very amateur mistake (I think Chapman would roll in his grave). I understand everyone makes mistakes but it’s a real shame to see such an iconic car poked into the wall like that!!
@miguelelgueta58302 жыл бұрын
The term "replica" doesnt really apply to old real racing cars, they have been replaced completely many times since they were built, and since Ferrari, McLaren, Brabham, or Tyrrell either arent around anymore or dont care at all for those old cars, all of them are re-built and maintained by private garages so the rich guys that own them can race them like this. So yeah some parts of the cars may be original but most of them have been rebuilt with new hand made pieces over the years to keep them racing-ready
