I really appreciate the correlation between the simple psychological evaluation you go through in the intro and the way more elaborate personality test that the game itself turns out to be. Push the fat man takes on a whole new meaning at the end. Also the fact the you start playing as a human trapped in a station with the typhons when in fact you were a typhon trapped in a station with the humans all along.

The best part in all this is we aren't even thinking of what this game would be like in an alien perspective because we are humans playing a "simulation" for an alien being so we automatically are prone to being humanitarian about our choices it baffles me to think how I cannot play the game in such an alien fashion since there is no known for an alien perspective cause even if we hypothesize that it still originates from a human perspective and therefore is simply inconceivable.

January's my favorite character in this game. Just the Escape Alone and Sacrifice endings say that. He knows he can't let you escape, his Directives tell him that. But he's willing to take irreparable damage to get you there. Just...wow. And then there's the fact that he's pretty much Operator Morgan, which makes it even better.

But I already made up my mind in my first play through is "non shaw sent back to Earth" I even kill the two Talos in the escape pod and also blow up the space ship(side quest on the board) without hesitating, because you know "not a single cell shaw escape the Talos one" But at the end January told me "Hey Morgan you know what, you can go with your coworkers" I know it supposed to be heart warming that an operator actually thinks about you, but it just made my determination feals like a joke (and it is a joke in the true ending)

Watching you stumble across talos taking crazy damage and almost dying made me remember my walkthrough - towards the end i was a god. All human abilities maxed, combat focus plus fully upgraded shotgun/particle gun/shocker, 300 health 300 psi 100 suit I was just walking through talos killing anything i felt didn't need to be there. Nightmares took 6 shotgun blasts, telepaths were food, technopaths I didn't even notice at that point. Poltergeists were the only enemies causing mild discomfort.

Quick summary/explaination: Basically the "Morgan" that we played as for the entire game is actually a Typhoon designed by Alex with inserted REAL MORGAN's empathy, inteligence and some memories. The original Morgan is long dead, but it's unknown if he/she died by an accident or by some evil plot. When it comes to Alex, it's not sure if he is purely EVIL. No person in the entire game is perfect, people have different opinions and Alex craved knowledge and progress, but he wasn't evil either, he didn't plan to kill for that knowledge (his many actions show it).

Yes, you're the phantom that consumed the original Morgan which was injected with Morgan's memories several times. That's why the doctors were freaked out when you hid behind a chair before mimicking it(which you already could as neuromods were fake) and you can use those blasts to blast out all the blocks.

When the apex typhon attacks, in alexes safe room there is the last transcribe "if things go sideways" from morgan to himself and another operator, October, where he says he has made plans for a nullwave that KILLS the typhons, and that he left it on top of the data tower next to the scary chair. The one alex wants you to use is just incapacitating them.

This game will forever be one of my absolute favorites. I found it at a gamestop at a discount, played it, loved it, looked up the reviews and was shocked by awful they were. I think this is a lesson for gamers worldwide, teaching us to continue exploring and stop listening to people who aren't even that passionate about games, because they slaugther amazing stuff weekly. Edit: And the IGN reviewer probably didn't even make it out of Morgans room. Most likely looking for a button for 6 hours and decided to hate it because he has the brain of a turnip.

the first time i played this game, i put it down about 10 hours in or so. i thought i was done with it. but it has one of the best introductions to a video game i've ever seen, so i picked it back up again. my intent was to rush through the main story. i ended up completing about 90 percent of the game (some quests i failed accidentally). this game made me feel at times it was hopeless, other times i felt comfortable, only to be ripped from that comfort and doubt my abilities. this game is a master-piece and when i would look up occasional clues, i would realize people's games were playing quite different than mine at times. awesome game!

The entire game being a simulation is reinforced a few times in the same way. In the very beginning you destroy the glass leading to the balcony only to realize that it's not real glass, it's the technological "looking glass" that can perfectly depict any scene. You can also do this in Morgan's office for the large rectangular looking glass. Most importantly, when you reach the Command Deck (and this is what really sold for me), the entire forward view of space used for navigation is nothing more than a huge panel of looking glass. Behind it is simply tech access and metal walls, no real windows at all. This implies that the ship is not actually a ship, and at this point we cannot even be sure that the game takes place in space. If you don't believe me, shoot it or hit it with your wrench.

I have a few concerns: 1. What happened to the real Morgan? 2. Who got his/her memories and how? 3. What happened to Alex. Is the guy in the and the real Alex? 4. At the end why only Alex is the only human and all other just robots? 5. Who is this Typhon? How did they capture him? Who conducted this whole test? If the humans then what happened to the other humans ? If the typhons then why did they wanted to run such a test? Maybe is only me but these endings are not good ones and doesnt explain a damn thing.

1. real Morgan died a long time ago 2. they stored your memory with some neural-whatever magic, same way they made January and same way they make neuromods based off of real people's abilities. 3. it's the real Alex. No reason to think otherwise 4. presumably because everyone else on Talos 1 is dead and Alex is the only one left alive (he had a private shuttle, remember?) 5. You seem to be a phantom or possibly a mimic. Maybe you were made in a lab? Maybe they lured you in. I don't think it matters how they captured you. Anyway, Alex and the 4 operators conducted the test, which was basically you strapped in a chair and put through a sim. The other humans are dead / not there. You can see that planet Earth has been overrun by typhon, so most people are probably dead by now.

The Doctor is weirded out because Morgan isn't using the neuromods because Simmons removed them under instructions from January to ensure your escape. I LOVED this storyline, and the ending was M. Night Shamylan wet dreams level of twist. I got the true ending. THe phantom handshake. A phantom consumed morgan or be became a self aware empathetic phantom. Not sure which. They say its a memory program. But thats such an easy way to see it. also at 29:37. Its just another simulation. I believe that ai are all thats left of civilization. Kind of like the nier automata effect. And they create lies to keep morale up among the more "human like" ai. Either way I want a sequal. I wanna see the world cover in typhons. I want to play as a typhon.

From what I played and read in the game Phantoms don't consume humans, yeah they kill them but Phantoms are created by Weavers. My personal opinion is that at the end the Phantom is Morgan Yu, created by a Weaver. Morgan Yu and the Phantom are one, at least that is my personal opinion, I am more than likely wrong.

This ending really disappointed me to be perfectly honest. I guess I'm just biased or something because I always hate a simulation/ dream ending. It's a quick and easy way for me to feel like nothing I did mattered, even in this case. I felt like all my choices, my saving of SOOOO many people, my developing of relationships with them, my secret planning to ensure they got out before I blew up Talos I, my inner conflict between saving as many people as possible and ensuring that the Earth is not attacked by the Typhon, all of it boiled down to impressing a few robots. It just felt so... unsatisfying...

I replayed the ending on PC with the FOV set to 120. You can see your entire body that way and whole arms. You can also fully see the walls to your left and right. When I replayed the ending that glitch never happened. I thing that glitch without Alex is an actual game glitch and not a secret easter egg.

My take on it is that you're a phantom who killed Morgan and had his memories, Alex managed to capture you and ran this whole simulation on you, being the phantom took Alex's hand with the hand that transformed into Morgan's hand, and to prove my point; Alex said, "We're gonna shake things up, like old times" possibly refering to someone he knew or obviously his brother.

I see it as you literally seeing all the memories that Morgan actually did, but despite any choices you make, the still Typhon invade earth. I think the Phantom takes the form of Morgan's hand because the memories have changed it, and made it understand what it's like to be human.

There are few possibilities: 1) Morgan is Typhon, he's no longer inside simulation, he doesnt kill Alex. That means - succesfull experiment, Earth invasion stopped. 2) Morgan is Typhon, he's no longer inside simulation, he kill Alex - that means you were playing the genre savy Typhoon who was aware whole time that humans try to manipulate him, instead it manipulated them by convincing them its now docile by bahaving exacly as they wanted from it. then it broke the contaiment, kill all, humanity dies. 3) Morgan is Typhon, still in simmulation, he doesnt kill Alex -in this case experiment is still in progress and in the end it's succesfull. 4) Morgan is typhon, still inside simmulation, kills Alex - as above, but experiment failed. OK NOW THE MOST FUCKED UP PARTS 5) Morgan is NOT a typhon, but human still inside simulation. Someone evil tries to convince him that he is Typhon to force the usege of typhon power more efficiently. No matter if Morgan kills Alex - the bad guys win. They convinced Morgan he's a typhon. This version however is the least plausible.

Well it doesnt have to be the phantom that killed him, since any human turned into a phantom gets their minds linked with the coral network. I assume you could just fish their memories out of it and link it to any phantom if you had control over the network. Like when you state you have the dream over and over, and when alex says this isnt the right one, they likely killed off many phantoms to find one that "succeeded."

Not likely. If you escape talos with out destroying it, (aka chicken ending) its implied that they have run this experiment multiple times and this was just another failure. So you can assume they are just grabbing random phantoms ect, strapping them in and running the simulation over and over hoping to get a response.
