Hey everyone! We decided to watch and react to the newest Predator movie for the first time, PREY (2022), directed by Dan Trachtenberg and starring Amber Midthunder! We watched the English version of this movie, but we'd love to check out the Comanche dub. We had a blast shooting this one, and we hope you enjoy!

Read in another video, the whistle at night in many cultures is seen as taboo and cursed. To whistle at night is to call upon evil spirits and monsters....hence that scene. A lot of cultural aspects in this that was done amazingly.

It's the Yautja hunting ritual law to match the quarry, weapon for weapon. So I don't think the Predator tech was undeveloped per se, but he has to match his quarry's weapons, hence the bolt gun and spears. The youngblood factors play the part too. From what I've read from the novels, young hunters often try to prove themselves by killing their prey (even Xenomorphs) bare-handed to gain respect.

@@6DarthSion9 One of the Bad Blood clans. Which, the credits, I hope indicate a way for the proper Yautja to get the pistol perhaps by allying with the tribe against the Bad Bloods. Though, given how naive this one is, even about its own laser system, I think this one was even younger than the "teenagers" from AvP.

Yes, he performed the voice for the predator including all sounds he made. Re; the clicking, they later showed how the clicking sound is actually from their top mandible fangs clicking against their top row of teeth.

the French Fur Traders were ony there to skin animals so Coloniser isn't really the correct term, Bawbag would be a more accurate description for people that did what Fur Traders did.

The French trappers didn't deal with buffalo hides very much. Fox, beaver, muskrat, rabbit, deer, and others were worth more and lighter to transport. Buffalo hides were more commonly traded between tribes.

It was taken by a predator who teamed up with a pirate captain to fight aliens in the comics. The pirate captain gave it to the predator with his dying breath. Most likely got a hold of it trading out of "the new world" beforehand.@@vladyvhv9579

Finally we got a good Predator again! I was intrigued when i saw promo material of a native woman infront of a big Pred mask but the garbage fire that the 2018 Pred was was still in my mind but i was so happy after watching it The use of traps and her surroundings, how she included her dog in taking the Predator down to the scene of the Pred wiping out the whole hunter group and a good use of Arnolds classic line,the cinematography, the only big flaw is the fact that this wasn´t in theaters like many are saying as well A very refreshing thing (for me at least) was that they didn´t beat you over the head with the fact that the main character was a woman like Hollywood usually likes to do Solid movie for an "ugly motherfucker"

Just pointing out. This does obviously take place 300+ years prior to any other predator movies. But this predator is I believe considered a Youngblood. They are given basic hunting gear until they are blooded in their first hunt. This is that predators hunt. Hence why he has such “basic” hunters gear.

@@NiceDudeMovieNight Its also a bit to do with WHAT they are hunting. Early firearms and melee weapons get easier equipment then full auto military guys.

You can also see the Predator is although very skilled with his weapons is very much an amatuer when it comes to strategy. Rather than stealthily taking everyone out one by one the predator very much goes for chaos and is willing to take hits and shots if it means everyone else dies and he is still alive. You can clearly see it learning how other predators hunt and applies the same tactics as them. The wolf he see stalking and then chasing its prey to ambush which it ends up doing to the wolf. The bear relies on brute force however, which the predator learns and tests out and takes on the bear in a slug match. Both of these combine with the fight against the colonisers with it using both Stealth and also the bears brute force. I see this movie as both the MC and the Predator learning as the film goes along. Culminating in the predator misjudging the MC and ultimately losing, which is something the predator didn't see in the wild. He didn't see prey that could defend itself. He saw Apex predators essentially hunting the bottom of the food chain. Imagine what the Predator could have learnt watching a Lion fight an OX or a rhino. Seeing that the predator although trying to kill its prey never underestimates what it is hunting as the Lion could not afford to get injured even in the slightest.

@@MajinPorunga Given the looks of this one, I'd think it's one of the Bad Bloods, as well as a Youngblood. Not yet old enough to hunt Xenomorphs. He doesn't seem to be fully familiar with his own weapons. Makes mistakes that the "teenagers" from AvP would laugh at.

Hey I'm going to make you jealous when I tell you that I experienced this film for the first time streamed into my VR headset where I was sitting in a dark, virtual theater. It was like I was watching it on a 40-ft screen. Yes I was by myself but that's fine because I wanted to catch every nuance of this amazing film. You should have seen it, guys - the panoramas in this film were epic. You owe it to yourself if you have a VR headset to watch this movie once in a virtual theater app.

I miss when there were actual animal actors in movies, not just CG animals, they look so fake and take me out of the movie. In the 80s and 90s, animals in movies were so good, especially Bart the Bear, who made every single movie he was in, especially The Edge.

Wish people would stop auto-assuming it is a 'primitive' or 'under-developed' predator. We are talking about a spacefaring species. It's not that much of a stretch to imagine that different colonies of them spread out to different planets with different environments and over the years just developed differently (albeit with a common ancestry). Hell that is exactly what happened to humanity and we are all on the same planet.

I appreciate there is a Comanche Language version of this movie. I find I prefer that version, but, then, I am a big fan of foreign movies so I have no issue with reading subtitles. These are supposed to be the Shoshone People, from which the Comanche People came after they got horses. The languages are a little different but related. I find the dialogue a bit easier to follow when the natives are speaking Comanche, the French are speaking French, and English is a second language to both. It would make more sense if Spanish was the second language to both, but you can't have everything.

Preds do have plasma casters at this point, just not this dude. When I first watched I assumed that he’s VERY young, and possibly from a less well-regarded caste (given his difference in appearance) and as he’s been dropped on such a backwater, primitive planet has been allowed a very basic set of tech. This should’ve 100% been a cinema release. The crowd reactions alone would’ve been amazing!

I was really reluctant to watch this when it first came out, afraid it would just be another predator movie, with little or no respect for the native Americans. Given the general lore of the Predators, I'd have to agree with the general theory that this one has not yet even reached a proper age to hunt Xenomorphs and be blooded. It's not a matter of Yautja tech advancing in what to that species would be a very short timeframe (sort of like saying that we could go from crossbows to plasma weapons in the span of 30 years, for human lifespan comparison). No. This is a little kid being allowed to learn the basics. It's gradeschool field trip, Bad Blood style.

I didn't love the movie ,I liked the movie The was alot of flaws. When she received the gun you know in future her tribe gets wiped out....But then the actress went on a rant.That night immediately canceled all my streaming services.

OK, so this was the strangest start to a reaction video. I assumed they were doing like most reaction channels, where they show a quick preview of some scene and their reactions. And then it cuts to the actual beginning before the movie starts where they discuss things, like what they know or heard about the movie. What other Predator movies have they seen. What are their expectations. Things like that. But that moment literally never came. Apparently, they just jumped right into the reaction, skipping by a rather large portion it seems. While it does get annoying seeing too much discussion in reaction videos, this was the opposite, but still annoying in its own way.

Though prey is not up there with my most favorite movies in the predator franchise it is a good one. I appreciate that they tried to give predator a begining or origin story. I most definitely have it in my predator collection where it belongs.

Great reaction to a really good film. I was a little hesitant to watch at first, given the track record of the last few Predator movies being terrible, but I was pleasantly surprised that I really like this movie! It breathes new life into the franchise and it's well made by the director of 10 Cloverfield Lane, another one that I really enjoyed. This movie's premise and plot are unique and interesting. One of my favorite things about this movie (among the many) is how the writers juxtaposed the acts of colonizers (the buffalo) with the predator (the general hunting). If you aren't familiar with that time period of American history, it's a great red herring, and makes a great statement about the atrocity thay was the buffalo fur trade of the time.

OMG it was B-A-D IMO. Instead of taunting Predator at the end with "do it", she should have just said "Avada Kedavra". That would have made as much sense since this movie is a "fantasy" rather than a sci-fi action movie. This movie idea was like a meal. It only took a day or so to turn into sh*t. Bad script, bad acting, bad filming/editing, its no surprise the end product is flushable.
