I joined the first year I opened and am still a member. I still believe it holds some weight with some customers.

Kelley, should I Ad plumbing to my business to add revenue? Its very simple to unclog , to install pipe, toilets, sinks, etc. Maybe hire and dispatch a plumber?

Not sure of the licensing needed in your state but doing it can be tough for 2 reasons. 1. Will they be a good fit for your team? We got very lucky and found a great guy who does great work. He’s easy to get along with and is a hard working family man. 2. It is expensive. They are a master plumber and they will need to be paid a very good wage or salary. I understand it’s not an expense when they begin making money for the company, just mean that it takes time to build a plumbing department. So you won’t necessarily make a bunch of money the first year. At least this has been our experience even with a decent customer base. I would look into IAQ as a new line of business and start training. That’s been a win for us and it’s only just begun.

"Knowledge and skills should be rewarded instead of punished" Early on you can charge 1200 for a compressor and replacement on 8 hr time task. Now 5 years later , you can do it in half the time so you charge for 800. Thats an example. Now you offer a customer fast service and as you grow in skill you make less money. Lol.

Hey business owners, try and giving a quote just for the equipment cost. Say its 4k for a heat pump. Give someone a quote for 4k and watch them try to bring it down to 3k 😂 yo, when you are charging at 12% net profit and everyone is trying to barter and bring the price down saying its expensive, just know that its not because of your "FAIR" price (you are not overcharging or high priced , don't be deceived and scared by customers reactions) they would be doing the same of you were doing the job for free just charging for the equipment ! And be highly critical of your work on top of that!
