Very first episode I ever watched. Had no idea what was going on at the time, somehow COMPLETELY missed the premise, and actually thought it was ruminating on the present-day characters' ancestors, maybe even needing to "fix" the past. ...I tended to jump to conclusions a fair bit as a kid...

It always tickled me how flamboyant Mr. Wickham is in this classic adaptation. And, yes, PLEASE do the Phantom of the Opera episode! It was my introduction to all things Phantom and my life has not been the same since.

I'll always have a soft spot for this show, and how it encourages kids to read classic works of literature. I also loved that nobody remarked on the fact that Wishbone was a dog in the reenactments, and his costars actual humans! 😂

my thoughts on pride and prejudice are never popular but i have them with a conviction i've rarely felt for anything and so i continue to curse everyone with this. HE CALLS HER UGLY AND THEN MARRIES HER AND WE NEVER TALK ABOUT IT!!!!!!!!!!! HE ALMOST CALLS HER UGLY TO HER FACE!! and yeah i know "plain" is the actual word used in the book but like you're telling me you wouldn't hold that over your husbands head for the rest of his life? i would make mine inscribe the tale in stone and anytime he wanted to be sassy i'd be like "you married a woman you called ugly when you met her" and i would win also my fave is probably lady susan or northanger abbey but pride and prejudice is a good one for schools because there are so many characters and things to talk about that i totally understand why it gets chosen over other works of hers

But see he doesn't actually think she's ugly, he's just trying to front for being a big doofus at parties and being too shy to actually talk to her. He also starts to find her more and more beautiful as he gets to know her which as a demisexual I've always appreciated.

The classic 1995 movie Clueless was a 90s Calfornia based version of Emma... and 10 things I hate about you was a late 90s retelling of 'Taming of the Shrew'... so I'm not surprised that Wisebone decided to do newer versions of classic novels.

*cries from nostalgia* Wishbone was a GIFT. It aired at a time when I was just starting to get old enough to remember things, so for the longest time, I could only remember snippets of the Anansi episode. Wishbone, Reading Rainbow, and Kino's Storytime were all neat PBS shows focused on reading. Oooh, Kino's Storytime definitely counts as nostalgic, obscure, otherwise strange content. It was lost media for years and hardly anybody remembers it - but the Wes Studi episode burned itself into my brain.

Oh man, the nostalgia! I remember living wishbone as a kid!! Speaking of odd but lovable Pride and Prejudice adaptations: have you ever seen The Lizzie Bennett Diaries? It was a KZbin series that tells the story of P&P as though Lizzie was a video blogger. It’d be fun to see you cover that at some point :)

This is the awkward moment when I say that I remember “Wishbone” from my childhood, but I’ve never watched a single episode. But the concept and the execution really looks cute! Getting kids to like books with a dog leading the way is an interesting way to do it, but if it works, I’m not complaining at all!

Have you seen Unleashing Mr. Darcy? It’s one of Hallmark’s many attempts to make a modern day Pride and Prejudice. Elizabeth is a dog show trainer and Mr. Darcy hires her to train his show dog.
