This one was quite a challenge due to the way the title is officially translated, (since it's not what I would have chosen and unfortunately it's repeated a lot throughout the song) and how incredibly fast each line comes and goes (I hope everything is still readable), but I'm quite happy with how the lyrics turned out regardless!
I had to take a lot of creative liberties (more than usual) because there is just... no way to translate 1:1 unless you want a completely jumbled, incoherent mess. Singable lyrics were also out of the question for this one because of the speed, everything I tried ended up as a tongue twister.

I feel like this theme perfectly captures both kiryu and partly Majima, although in comparison to Kiryu, Majima had a much more comfortable experience. Even when Kiryu was barely in the life of a Yakuza, he had to fight for his life every second. He's grown so used to seeing his loved ones die that there are times where he doesn't seem particularly affected. And yet he carries on, fighting entire clans, narrowly avoiding being captured and tortured, barely having any time to catch a break. He truly does turn his despair into pride, and that's exactly why he's easily my favourite video game protagonist of all time.

Majima and Kiryu are pretty much exactly the same in terms of fundemental character, the only difference being that Majima is canonically more sly than Kiryu and the fact that Majima uses the mad dog as a means to distract himself from the suffering he's endured and prevent it from happening again, whereas Kiryu has always acted true to himself, which is why Majima has always respected him and helped him, in his own way.

Seems like the opposite to me. Kiryu always tries leaving, but gets involved with Yakuza business anyway and drags Majima back in with him. Like in 2. Kiryu decides to help the Tojo clan and gets Majima to leave Majima contractions and go back to the Tojo clan. In 3, Kiryu AGAIN, asks Majima to go back to the Tojo to support Daigo. There's something about this song that always lifts up my spirits. There are many inspirational songs out there, but this one hits different. Many songs of the kind usually go about how "life is good, and as long as you do what you want, nothing will hurt you", which is not a bad message; but this one feels far more grounded, because it acknowledges suffering. Yes, life will be cruel. Yes, you will suffer. Yes, all the lights may fade away... But even then, you still have to rise from the cruel pit of despair. At the end of the day, the only thing that is truly yours is your pride, so light the fire within it and engulf the pain. You will suffer, you will fail sometimes.... The voices of these characters are incomparable with whatever people could try to do in other languages. haha, i got used to it while working on the video, japanese is quite a melodic language that flows well into itself so its not too hard if you know the words, its a lot easier to sing this fast in japanese than english. its one of the reasons i didn't bother with singable english lyrics and just went for a translation instead
